English Version
My goal this year was the top of Loma de la Cruz, the highest point in Holguín crowned with a white cross and spectacular views. I had only gone up as a medical student and I had a bad memory, I almost didn't make it, because it has 458 steps, high in themselves. But my goals are to surpass everything that has been difficult for me and this time I did it.
As I ascended the steep staircase, I faced my biggest challenge: fatigue. The road seemed to have no end and my legs were getting tired. I had to rest on the intermediate benches, but my determination was unbreakable and I moved on, step by step.
It was very interesting to see that it has become the favorite destination of the people of Holguín to do physical exercises, even as they went up they did other types of exercises such as sit-ups and push-ups, in addition some were accompanied by their dogs who were also exercising.
Finally I arrived at the top and despite the fatigue I felt very excited, especially to be able to enjoy the best landscape of the city, in addition to a spectacular sunset. Being under the cross, contemplating the impressive panoramic view of Holguín, I felt an overwhelming sense of achievement. The city stretched below like a patchwork quilt.
With a triumphant smile, I descended, knowing that I could overcome any obstacle that life presented to me and with the certainty that it was the first of many visits to the same. Certainly if you come to Holguín it is a place that you should not fail to visit.
