Hi there everyone It's me Rhea again, and today I will be sharing another blog of mine about my experience being a 2nd year psychology student.
It all started when our instructor told us to observe an infant, if you’re wondering why, here is the reason, since I am now a 2nd year psychology student, we now have a subject called developmental psychology, and since we’re still on the introduction of the subject basically we’re just learning about the first stages of life, which is first the prenatal period and next is the infancy and the babyhood. Anyway, since I like to observe keenly, me and my friends/classmates planned to visit a birthing center.
It was august 27 when we finally decided to start observing infants, I then rode with my father to our meeting place which is at Bogo city centrum since the birthing center is just near the centrum.
When I got at the Centrum, I then saw Joyce outside waiting for me. We then entered at a convenience store to wait for my other friend Ishbel.
While waiting for her, I decided to buy Onigiri since I am a bit hungry hehe.
After eating onigiri, I was craving for an ice cream so that I treated Joyce with some ice cream in order for her not to get bored of waiting hehe.
And finally after waiting for almost an hour, ishbel finally arrived. We then decided to go to a birthing center to ask permission, speaking of permission, before we went to the birthing center we have a formal letter signed by our instructor so that the birthing center will trust us.
The good news is they agreed to our request but the only thing that holds us back is the patient was still sleeping and we need to wait until 3 PM but at that time is still 2 o’clock in the afternoon, so we decided to assure the staffs that we will wait until 3 PM and luckily they agreed. While waiting we planned to visit another place so that we can have a lot of options or to choose from.
Our second choice is to visit a nearby hospital, we asked the security guards for locations and then entered inside. When we got inside the other security guard told us to got the head nurse to ask for permissions, we then waited a while since they’re busy inside and after waiting for a couple of minutes the head nurse called us and asked us a few questions, but unfortunately they didn’t agreed since the head of the hospital is not available and we need to ask permission to the head of the hospital personally, so we decided to leave the hospital and went for another birthing center.
We walked a little bit because it was pretty near from the hospital. When we got at the other birthing center, the midwife told us that they don’t have any appointments or patients that time so the midwife told us to come back tomorrow morning, so we decided to leave and come back to the first birthing center that we entered earlier.
When we got there it was already 3:00 PM and lucky us the patient finally woke up and so the midwife then guide us to where the patient was staying. We then started our interview afterwards.
While we’re asking questions to the mother it felt just like a casual conversation like it was just a normal conversation and felt like we known each other for a long time lol though it was a fun and nice meeting with her.
After the interview we then went to a convenience store to buy a food for the parents of the infant to reciprocate their kindness hehe.
After buying, we then went back to the birthing center to give the foods to them and thank them for their kindness.
After that we went back to the convenience store to treat ourselves because we think we deserve to reward ourselves for being so hardworking hehe lol.
Me and Joyce bought Bavarian while ishbel bought hotdog sandwich. I also bought this tuna gimbap hehe since I am so curious about the taste.
After eating we decided to leave the area but before that we took mirror shots.
And after taking pictures we then decided to go home.
