If you do not value yourself and take care of your health, no one else will do it for you. Even family members cannot always be present to look after you. Therefore, you are the only one responsible for keeping yourself healthy.
When we talk about health, it does not only mean physical health but also mental health. Mental health is just as important as physical health.
Now the question is: How can we maintain our physical and mental health in this busy lifestyle? Although it may seem difficult, it is not impossible.
What Should We Do To Keep Ourselves Physically Fit
When people think about physical fitness, they often imagine intense gym workouts and strict routines. Because of this mindset, many people never even start their fitness journey. In reality, it is not as difficult as people think.
I have personally gone through this process and have lost almost seven to eight kilograms. Alhamdulillah, I am now physically much fitter.
Physical fitness does not only mean losing weight. This is a common misconception. The real goal is to reduce excess body fat and maintain a healthy body.
The first step is to calculate your BMI (Body Mass Index). BMI is a simple measurement used to determine whether a person's weight is healthy for their height. It is calculated by dividing weight by the square of height.
If your BMI is not within the normal range, then you should start paying attention to your health.
The basic principle of fitness is quite simple: calorie balance.
If you want to lose weight, consume fewer calories than your body needs.
If you want to gain weight, consume more calories than your body requires.
For example, if your body needs 2200 calories per day, you can create a calorie deficit by consuming 1900–2000 calories daily in order to lose weight.
Exercise is also very important. Ideally, you should dedicate at least one hour daily to physical activity. If you cannot perform different exercises, even brisk walking is a very effective way to stay active and healthy.
A balanced diet is equally important. Your diet should include:

Milk and yogurt

Rice and healthy carbohydrates
Protein-rich foods
Reducing sugar intake is also very helpful for maintaining good health.

Drinking 7–8 glasses of water daily helps prevent dehydration, improves digestion, and keeps the skin healthy.
What Should We Do To Keep Ourselves Mentally Fit
In countries like Pakistan, maintaining mental peace can sometimes be difficult because people face many daily challenges. Therefore, we must develop patience and mental strength to deal with these situations.
There is a famous saying: “A healthy body has a healthy mind.” When your physical health improves, your mental health often improves as well.
To maintain good mental health, it is important to spend time on activities you enjoy. If you like playing sports such as cricket or hockey, try to play them regularly.
Spending time with children, doing kitchen gardening, and enjoying family moments can greatly improve your mood and mental well-being.
You should also take some time for yourself on weekends. Go for a picnic with your family or spend time in nature.
Reading a few pages of a good book daily can also help relax the mind. Worship God, help others, and try to spread kindness wherever possible.
Spend quality time with loved ones and good friends. Avoid worrying too much about people's opinions and try to surround yourself with sincere and positive individuals.
In conclusion, both mental and physical health should be our top priority. Career, money, and other things are important, but they are secondary.
The most important thing in life is your health. Without good health, it is difficult to enjoy anything in life.
So always take care of your health and keep working on improving it.
