Lara Tourist Destination Forum

On Wednesday, April 29th, the Forum on Lara State as a Megadiverse Natural Destination took place. The forum was originally scheduled for a week earlier but had to be postponed. This didn't deter a large turnout. I arrived early, a little before nine in the morning, and the hotel lobby was already full; among them were many tourism students from various universities in the city.
We waited a few minutes before being able to access the mezzanine level of the Biotel Hotel, located across from the city's Obelisk. A line of attendees formed, waiting to be included in a database of Cortular, the regional government agency in charge of organizing the event.
The hotel is quite nice, and in that area, some of the booths of other organizations that participated in organizing the forum were already set up, such as Inparques and the city zoo. The coffee company IMpetu was also present to showcase its specialty coffee.
El miércoles 29 de abril tuvo lugar el Foro sobre el Estado de Lara como Destino Natural Megadiverso. El foro estaba programado para una semana antes, pero tuvo que posponerse. Esto no impidió una gran afluencia de público. Llegué temprano, un poco antes de las nueve de la mañana, y el vestíbulo del hotel ya estaba lleno; entre ellos, muchos estudiantes de turismo de diversas universidades de la ciudad.
Esperamos unos minutos hasta que pudimos acceder a la entreplanta del Hotel Biotel, situado frente al Obelisco de la ciudad. Se formó una fila de asistentes que debían registrarse para ser incluidos en una base de datos de Cortular, la agencia gubernamental regional encargada de la organización del evento.
El hotel es bastante bonito, y en esa zona ya se encontraban algunos de los stands de otras organizaciones que participaron en la organización del foro, como Inparques y el zoológico de la ciudad. La empresa cafetera IMpetu también estaba presente para mostrar su café de especialidad.

Admission to the forum was completely free and open to the public. While waiting for the presentations to begin, I took photos and videos of the event and the attendees. The Tourism Queen, the Agro-industrial Queen, and the State Culture Queen were also present, and I took the opportunity to photograph them.
I also had the chance to speak with the staff at the booths to learn a little more about the National Parks Institute (Inparques) and their role as guardians and caretakers of the national parks. I also visited the Zoological Park's booth, which I hadn't been to in quite some time. I think it's been about five years since my last visit. I plan to return to see how the facilities are doing.
La entrada al foro fue totalmente gratuita y abierta al público. Mientras esperaba que comenzaran las presentaciones, tomé fotos y videos del evento y de los asistentes. La Reina del Turismo, la Reina Agroindustrial y la Reina de la Cultura del Estado también estaban presentes, y aproveché para fotografiarlas.
También tuve la oportunidad de hablar con el personal de los stands para aprender un poco más sobre el Instituto de Parques Nacionales (Inparques), sus funciones como guardianes y cuidadores de los parques nacionales. Visité además el stand del Parque Zoológico, al que no había ido en bastante tiempo. Creo que han pasado unos cinco años desde mi última visita. Planeo regresar para ver cómo están las instalaciones.

Before the presentation, there was a short musical segment with a local group that performed indigenous and traditional songs from the state. It was very lively, and the audience enjoyed the Lara rhythm, which fills all the inhabitants of the region with pride.
There were three speakers, and all of them were very informative on the topics they covered. The goal was to raise awareness, not only among tour operators but also among visitors to tourist sites, so that we all take care of the natural areas, both the flora and fauna found there. It is everyone's responsibility to maintain our parks and tourist areas in perfect condition, visiting them without damaging the ecosystem that thrives there.
The last speaker was a veterinarian who emphasized the care of animal species in our main parks. The care we must take with the animals that inhabit these places.
It was already past noon when I had to leave, so I couldn't fully enjoy the last presentation, but the forum was very informative. I hope they continue to organize these kinds of activities more frequently.
Antes de la presentación, hubo un breve segmento musical con un grupo local que interpretó canciones indígenas y tradicionales del estado. Fue muy animado y el público disfrutó del ritmo Lara, que llena de orgullo a todos los habitantes de la región.
Hubo tres oradores, y todos fueron muy informativos sobre los temas que trataron. El objetivo era crear conciencia, no solo entre los operadores turísticos, sino también entre los visitantes de los sitios turísticos, para que todos cuidemos las áreas naturales, tanto la flora como la fauna que allí se encuentran. Es responsabilidad de todos mantener nuestros parques y áreas turísticas en perfectas condiciones, visitándolos sin dañar el ecosistema que allí prospera.
El último orador fue un veterinario que hizo hincapié en el cuidado de las especies animales en nuestros principales parques. El cuidado que debemos tener con los animales que habitan esos lugares.
Ya era pasado el mediodía cuando tuve que irme, así que no pude disfrutar plenamente de la última presentación, pero el foro fue muy informativo. Espero que continúen organizando este tipo de actividades con más frecuencia.
