Hello friends, good morning to all! I hope you had a great weekend. Today I will share with you how I painted my bed.
When I moved into my new home, there were things in it that I didn't like very much because of its colors, I have always thought that things in brown are old style and my taste of colors, styles and design, are more towards modern and minimalist. I remember in my grandparents' house, the kitchen furniture had a lot of details on the edges, the handles were very old style, with details, curves and shapes that I don't know how the goldsmiths did at the time. The truth is that I don't particularly like that style and I think it's partly because it scares me a little, my hypothesis is that maybe it's because in horror movies you always see that kind of constructions with those styles.
Hola amigos, buen día a todos! Espero que hayan tenido un gran fin de semana. Hoy les compartiré cómo pinté mi cama.
Cuando me mudé a mi nuevo hogar, había cosas en él que no me agradaban mucho por sus colores, siempre he pensado que las cosas en marrón son al estilo antiguo y mi gusto de colores, estilos y diseño, son más hacia lo moderno y minimalista. Recuerdo que en casa de mis abuelos, los muebles de cocina tenían muchos detalles en los bordes, las manillas eran muy al estilo antiguo, con detalles, curvas y formas que no sé cómo hacían los orfebres en su momento. Lo cierto es que a mí particularmente no me gusta ese estilo y creo que en parte es porque me da un poco de miedo, mi hipótesis es que quizás es porque en las películas de terror siempre se ven ese tipo de construcciones con esos estilos.
Well, after all this preamble, I just wanted to tell you that one of the things I didn't like (the color mainly) was the bed. It was a natural wood color and it didn't match the rest of the house at all. I didn't like the design either but I thought that with a simple change of color, it would improve a lot until I had the opportunity to buy one that I liked more. So without thinking, I went to the hardware store and bought a water based paint, satin and the color had to be clear, but not white, so I bought a very light gray. To begin my mission I had to disassemble the bed piece by piece, it had boards that supported the mattress, the back support I could not remove it, it had some screws that were impossible to remove.
Bueno, después de todo este preámbulo, solo quería comentarles que una de las cosas que no me gustaba (el color principalmente) era la cama. Era color natural de madera y no combinaba para nada con el resto de la casa. Su diseño tampoco es que me gustara pero pensé que con un sencillo cambio de color, mejoraría muchísimo hasta que tuviera la oportunidad de comprarme una que me gustara más. Así que sin pensarlo, me fui a la ferretería y compré una pintura con base de agua, satinada y el color tenía que ser claro, pero no blanco, por lo que compré una gris muy claro. Para empezar mi misión debía desarmar la cama pieza por pieza, tenía tablas que eran las que soportaban el colchón, el respaldo de la espalda no podía quitarlo, tenía unos tornillos que se me hicieron imposibles de sacar.

With everything ready, the only thing left to do was to put the black bags on the floor to avoid staining as little as possible and with a roller and a brush to start painting. I painted all the corners of the wood, previously I put tape to protect the screws from the paint, and painted a lot. I only painted the visible parts. This is important to avoid wasting paint in the invisible areas. I applied two coats of paint and when the bed was ready, I let it dry for a couple of hours. Once the paint was dry, it was time to place the mattress, dress it and place the side tables with their lamps and "voila".
Ya con todo listo, solo quedaba poner las bolsas negras en el piso para evitar manchar lo menos posible y con un rodillo y una brocha empezar a pintar. Pinté todos los rincones de la madera, previamente le puse cinta para proteger los tornillos de la pintura, y a pintar mucho. Solo pinté las partes visibles. Eso es importante para evitar malgastar la pintura en las zonas invisibles. Le eché dos manos de pintura y cuando la cama estaba lista, dejé secarla por un par de horas. Al estar seca la pintura, solo tocaba colocar el colchón, vestirlo y acomodar las mesitas a los lados con sus lámparas y "voilá".
