In between growing my social enterprise, tutoring, marketing my course and trying to find new projects, all these require energy. Even when we have the same amount of time, that doesn’t even guarantee constant energy levels. Some days, I need to have more energy because my job has a lot to do with socializing and meeting new people and stakeholders. So, how do I handle things when I have low energy these days?
In the past, I didn’t have good energy regulations. I burned out quickly and bailed out in many of my projects and endeavors.
For quite a long time, I used to use nootropics to improve my energy levels and focus but I quit cold turkey a while back.
When I decided to quit cold turkey, It was brutal and my life was not the same. As much as relying on caffeine and tea helps, sometimes even with a good night's sleep, my energy isn’t the same. But I kept on living just fine without it,except that I didn’t feel “ that” smart.
So, my way of handling low days energy was just pure motivational talks, and my own discipline.
For the past couple of days, I tried to get back into consuming energy drinks and that changed the narration a bit. When I am getting back to consuming it, I am assuming it’s the high content of sugar and some cocktails of its ingredients that was responsible for launching my energy to space.
It’s actually pretty common in my field that people have certain vices because this job is pretty stressful and typically needs more energy to survive.
As much as I tried to steer away from it, now I get sucked into the same cycle 😂
But at the same time, I am also mindful that energy drinks aren't going to be my daily consumption. Given that now I have a more balanced life schedule, Saturday and Sunday aren’t the days when I need those as for those two days, I am relying on pure motivation and have prepared many things during the work day. So, I don’t need as much energy during the weekend compared to the working days.
These days also reminded me of a couple years ago when my diet consisted of energy drinks and simple meals. Those were the days when I worked the hardest and became a lot more creative. Then, followed by some years of being guilted to rely on cognitive enhancers so I quit cold turkey.
But in today’s day and age, everyone is openly on something whether it is cognitive enhancers, plastic surgery, drugs (yes caffeine included), or following the blueprint of don’t die. One way or another, it’s quite challenging to be extremely clean.
The only way I am better at doing it now is eating cleaner and lowering my carb consumption. Some type of movement will help too and most importantly, do not forget to drink water.
