English version
Hello dear lifestyle friends. I am pleased to be able to make this particular post, because I want to talk about my experience taking care of my 96-year-old grandmother, this time by myself, and although it was only a matter of 2 hours, I think even less, I liked having controversial topics by her side, and knowing what she thinks about some particular topics that, due to taboo or shame, are not discussed in my family.
I was immediately left alone with her, I looked for some recreational activity for both her and me, then I decided to do her nails, at first she was reluctant, she told me that she did not want such a strong color and I told her that I had a paint with glitter and she accepted. She told me that, in her youth she did not have a chance to paint her fingernails because she had to make food to sell, she made arepas on a firewood or stove, however, she chose to paint her toenails and have her lips well painted red. Specifying that, red on the lips was her favorite.
I made her laugh on several occasions, her head sometimes short-circuits (due to her dementia), and she is somewhat unaware of her reality, but, just those hours that I spent with her, I felt that she was living her present, and I was able to enjoy her. My grandmother is a lady that I admire for her great strength and generosity, she not only raised her children, her husband's children, and also many of her grandchildren. It was a day that I will carry in my heart, and I hope it is repeated.
