Over the last few weeks, I have been through some stressful times and have been looking here on hive for a few ideas on how to clear some stress but didn't find much so I want to start making some blogs to help others when they are in the same situation I was in. I am in no way a mental health professional, but these have just been some of the ways I have worked through it.
Here are five simple, practical ways to de-stress that fit easily into a busy lifestyle.
🌿 1. Take a Breathing Break
Just 60 seconds of slow, deep breathing can calm your nervous system. Try inhaling for four counts, holding for four, and exhaling for four. It’s a quick reset you can do anywhere — at your desk, in the car, or before bed.
For me I normally do this when I am waiting for my hot chocolate (I don't drink coffee) or when I have 2 minutes alone.
☕ 2. Step Away From Screens
Constant notifications and scrolling can quietly drain your energy. Even a short “digital detox” — like putting your phone down for 15 minutes — can help your mind feel clearer and more focused.
This is another thing that helps me even more so with the crypto world. I spend a few hours a day playing games and have lots of discord groups I'm apart of that my phone and computer can be nuts. Taking 20 minutes without my phone normally when it has died helps me get back into the real world with my family.
🚶 3. Move Your Body
You don’t need a full workout to feel better. A short walk, stretching, or even standing up and rolling your shoulders can release tension and boost your mood.
Every single night I will go for a walk around the block when its dark so there are not any other distractions, and I can just destress on the walk
🎶 4. Listen to Music That Lifts You
Music has a powerful effect on emotions. Whether it’s calming background sounds or your favorite upbeat playlist, the right track can shift your mindset almost instantly.
Music is something that brings me back to earth and most of all helps me get into the mood to deal with most jobs either at home or in the work place.
🕯️ 5. Create a Small Ritual
Light a candle, make a cup of tea, or tidy up a small space. Simple rituals signal to your brain that it’s time to slow down, and they can become anchors of calm in your day.
At the end of every day when the kids have gone to bed my wife will go to bed and I will just sit on the couch for 5 minutes and just do tip 1&2 when its quite
Stress is part of life, but it doesn’t have to control us. Small, intentional habits can make a big difference in how we feel. I’d love to hear from you: What’s your go-to way to de-stress when life gets heavy?
