A necessary introduction
Several were the activities that brought me joy in the month of love and friendship. I had the possibility to enjoy with my wife, my friends, to be happy with my work activities and to buy a piece of equipment that improved my quality of life.
Was everything perfect? The answer is no, but, the positives far outweighed the negatives and, I want to share with everyone, my summary of the second month of the year.
I bought my refrigerator
At the beginning of February I was able to buy my refrigerator. You can imagine the joy that reigned in my heart and my wife's happiness for having such a necessary piece of equipment for food preservation and other necessities.
It is true that we had to deprive ourselves of many things in order to save money and have our refrigerator, but it was worth the sacrifice.
Celebrating the Day of Love with my wife
Although the whole year is perfect for love, February 14 is chosen to celebrate the Day of Love and Friendship. In that sense, I always try to celebrate it with my wife and do it differently. What does not change is that, for the past 28 years, every February 14, I have given her a poem made by me as a token of our love.
Besides the poem, we went to a very cozy restaurant called “Once upon a time” and had a wonderful time.
At the International Book Fair of Havana
In the month of February, Cuba hosts the International Book Fair and it is one of the most important cultural activities held in the country.
In my case, I always have to attend, in my capacity as director of the National Center of Geological Information publishing house.
As we do every year, we attend the fair and carry out different activities such as buying books, exchanges with other publishers, panels on our main publications and book presentations.
Celebrating birthdays
This is one of the activities that I like to do the most and, if it is with people near and dear to me, much more.
This month I participated in two birthdays, but, in one of them, I participated in the organization of it, together with my wife.
It was a beautiful moment that my wife's friend appreciated, after learning that her only daughter and granddaughter went to live in another country.
Celebrating with dear friends
One of the things that caused me some nostalgia was the departure to another country of a great friend of mine who has been a great help to me and of whom I have the honor of being the best man. For this reason, he invited my wife, who is his godmother, and me to a farewell lunch.
That activity was held at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba and, in addition to the three of us, his daughter was there, whom we consider a beloved niece.
The other activity with friends was with two of my four friends. One of them is my brother-in-law who had not come to my house for 9 years and the other is a close friend who we do see each other every day or communicate with each other.
Both activities were simple, but of great human sensitivity, because of what our lives represent for each one of us.
A final comment
It was a month that went by too fast.
Perhaps because of the number of activities, which were more than I am reporting here, or because of the fun I had during the month of Love and Friendship.

Una introducción necesaria
Tal parece que por las actividades realizadas, febrero no es el mes más pequeño del almanaque, porque realicé muchas y variadas actividades.
Varias fueron las actividades que me trajeron alegrías en el mes del amor y la amistad. Tuve la posibilidad de disfrutar con mi esposa, mis amistades, ser feliz con las actividades de mi trabajo y comprar un equipo que mejoró mi calidad de vida.
¿Fue todo perfecto? La respuesta es no, pero, lo positivo fue muy superior a lo negativo y, quiero compartir con todos, mi resumen del segundo mes del año.
Me compré mi refrigerador
Iniciando febrero pude comprar mi refrigerador. Pueden imaginar la alegría que reinó en mi corazón y la felicidad de mi esposa por tener un equipo tan necesario para la conservación de los alimentos y otros menesteres.
Es cierto que tuvimos que privarnos de muchas cosas para poder ahorrar y tener nuestro refrigerador, pero, valió la pena tanto sacrificio.
Celebrando el Día del amor con mi esposa
Aunque todo el año es perfecto para amar, el 14 de febrero es escogido para celebrar el Día del Amor y la Amistad. En tal sentido, siempre intento celebrarlo con mi esposa y hacerlo de manera diferente. Lo que sí no cambia es que, desde hace 28 años, cada 14 de febrero le regalo un poema hecho por mí, como muestra fehaciente de nuestro amor.
Además del poema, fuimos a un restaurante muy acogedor llamado “Había una vez” y la pasamos de maravilla.
En la Feria Internacional del Libro de La Habana
En el mes de febrero Cuba acoge la Feria Internacional del Libro y, es una de las actividades culturales más importantes de las que se realizan en el país.
En mi caso, siempre debo asistir, en mi condición de director, de la editorial Centro Nacional de Información Geológica.
Al igual que todos los años, asistimos a la feria y realizamos diferentes actividades como compra de libros, intercambio con otras editoriales, paneles sobre nuestras principales publicaciones y presentaciones de libros.
Celebrando cumpleaños
Esta es de las actividades que más me gusta realizar y, si es con personas cercanas y queridas, mucho más.
Este mes participé en dos cumpleaños, pero, en uno de ellos, participé en la organización del mismo, junto a mi esposa.
Fue un bello momento que la amiga de mi esposa agradeció, luego de saber que su única hija y su nieta se fueron a vivir a otro país.
Festejando con amigos queridos
Una de las cosas que me causaron cierta nostalgia fue la partida hacia otro país de una gran amiga mía que ha sido de una gran ayuda para mí y de quien tengo el honor de ser el padrino de bodas. Por esta razón, nos invitó a mi esposa, que es su madrina de boda, y a mí a un almuerzo de despedida.
Esa actividad la realizamos en el Hotel Nacional de Cuba y, además de nosotros tres, estuvo su hija, a quien consideramos como una sobrina querida.
La otra actividad con amigos fue con dos de mis cuatro amigos. Uno de ellos es mi cuñado que, desde hacía 9 años, no venía a mi casa y, el otro es un amigo cercano que sí nos vemos todos los días o nos comunicamos.
Ambas actividades fueron sencillas, pero de una gran sensibilidad humana, por lo que representan nuestras vidas para cada uno de nosotros.
Un comentario final

Quizás, por el número de actividades que fueron más de las que aquí relato o por lo bien que la pasé en el mes del Amor y la Amistad.
