Hi, my dear friends!
The Wheel of the Year has passed another segment of its year way and today we are returning to the topic of natural energies and gender roles. And as usual I will immediately make an explanation that the words "gender roles" should not be taken too literally. Several sub-personalities always live inside us, we can be very different and show different sides of our nature. And the whole point of these roles, when we talk about the Wheel of the Year, is to bring the personality together. This is just one of the near-psychological practices and nothing more.
At the same time, there is another component of this cycle. This cycle is primarily natural. And we, whether we admit it or not, are part of nature (and not its masters at all). Therefore, one way or another, those energies that turn on in nature with the onset of a certain season affect us.
This time, in my traditional Wheel of the Year post, I will make two exceptions. First, I removed the story itself and the Wheel of the Year. I've been repeating this so often that you're probably already tired, so I decided to pause. And secondly, I did not pick up photos on stocks, but took them in my garden.
So, Beltane! As I’ve already said it is one of the holidays of the Wheel of the Year and it is celebrated today, on the 1st of May. The other names of this holiday are May Day, Walpurgisnacht, Floralia, Calan Mai.
When we are talking about May we are talking about the beautiful time of spring. In the end, for this year it is exactly right. In March it was still too cold, April, except for the last week, poured rain on us, but right now everything seems to be getting better! The trees in my garden are dressed in a light white lace of flowers and it looks great.
May is a period of rebirth, a period when nature cares about the continuation of life, including in all living beings beyond their will the desire for the manifestation of passion, sensuality, sexuality. The world seems brighter and more colorful. The air is saturated with love and romance.
Right now, many animals and birds give birth to offspring in order to have time to grow it by autumn. Nature is very concerned about the continuation of life on this small planet. Of course, this does not mean at all that you should go all out and take part in a couple of orgies. Not at all! But you can just enjoy life.
But I got talking! Let's get back to our topic and talk about Beltane's gender roles.
Beltane "switches on" gender roles of the Mistress and the Lover.
Again and again I ask you not to take the words too literally! These are just names for certain behavioral patterns and nothing else! This does not mean at all that we must urgently begin to change each other, testing our relationships and nervous system for strength!
The Wheel of the Year gender role "Mistress" focuses primarily on the ability to understand one's desires and, probably, the courage to declare them in order to realize them.
And what about you? Do you know your desires? Do you understand them? Seriously? And let's check! It's easy!
There is a very simple exercise. Take a piece of paper and write on it 100 (one hundred) your wishes. You have 72 hours to do this. Just take it seriously. Desires like "I want to scratch my knee" or "I want a cup of coffee" are not quite right.
As we have already said, any role can be either realized (harmonious) or unrealized (failed) or hyper-manifested.
It is not difficult to guess that a person whose role of mistress is failed is not aware of his desires. She perfectly understands what she wants for her husband, for children, for friends, for the boss, and so on, but she has no idea what she wants for herself personally.
When the role of a mistress is hyper-manifested - hold on! This lady lives solely by her desires, no matter what consequences they may have! With such a person it is impossible to build normal partnerships.
A man's role "Lover" means a man who satisfies desires (not only sexual and not only women's). This is a man who can give something to others.
The imbalance of the role of the Lover can be manifested in two variants. First, this is when a man is not capable of refusing to anybody (primarily a woman). It squanders the entire resource to meet other people's whims. The second option is when almost any request a man responds with a refusal, regardless of the reasonableness and validity of this request.
Now, as I finish writing this, I suddenly thought that it might be right to say that Beltane's main theme is about giving and being given and the balance of them. I guess if I manage to develop this topic, I'll make another post about it later, after all, the Beltane energies will be with us until mid-June, so there's still time.
