Hoy es #Caturday y como es costumbre en mi, realizare una publicación relativa a los felinos, que por lo regular tienen experiencias de mi parte vividas junto a ellos, ya en anteriores oportunidades les he comentado que los parásitos tanto internos como externos son un problema que puede ocasionar hasta la muerte, a nuestros amigos peludos , en esta oportunidad. les quiero compartir mi triste experiencia acerca de una enfermedad trasmitida por las pulgas de nombre Hemobartonelosis Felina, también conocida como, Mycoplasma haemofelis después de ser reclasificada, pero comúnmente se la llama Hemobartonella, ya que actualmente Akiles la está padeciendo, así que si deseas saber más quédate y continúa leyendo.

De unos meses para acá Akiles ha padecido mucho, la razón su sistema inmune no es el mejor, la razón principal, fue separado de su madre a muy temprana edad y amantado de manera artificial, así que no adquirió las defensas que las madres pasan a sus hijos cuando los amamantan, por otro lado padece de Rinotraqueitis la cual adquirió de algún gato de la urbanización, a raíz de esta enfermedad que origina conjuntivitis y luego por una pelea, su vista estuvo muy comprometida llegando al punto que casi fue intervenido quirúrgicamente, pero tras un largo tratamiento ya sus ojos están perfectos.

Ahora bien, ya casi terminando su tratamiento oftalmológico note a Akiles más delgado, él nunca ha sido gordo, la razón, el es muy activo, pero esta delgadez ,venia acompañada de decaimiento, siempre mostraba tener frio buscando estar en cercanía de fuentes de calor humana y sus encías se veían muy pálidas, mientras el estuvo en tratamiento por si problema ocular, los Veterinarios notaron algo en sus exámenes y le recetaron antibiótico y vitamina B12, por tener anemia, pero luego supe que algunos hemoparásitos, se alientan de vitaminas y se la das al mismo tiempo que el antibiótico, este último no logra el efecto deseado.

Así Akiles no mejoraba, todo el tiempo tenia hambre y en una que otra ocasión lo vi arrastrando el trasero por el suelo lo que me llevo a creer tenia parásitos, pero tras desparasitar su hambre constante continuaba y no gana peso, así que llame a mis veterinarios de confianza quienes me recomendaron realizarle un perfil general para observar sus valores y una prueba de hemoparásitos, ya que por los síntomas que les describí ya sospechaban del diagnóstico, Para nuestra sorpresa y al parecer por como Akiles se portó al asistir laboratorio, algunas pruebas arrojaron resultados dudosos, pero al realizar un ecosonograma se observó su vaso muy inflamado. Así que le recetaron 10 días de antibióticos inyectados y antinflamatorio en compañía de corticoides y, luego tratamiento oral por un mes.

Del mismo modo, la semana pasada un veterinario me insistió en asistir a su consulta para repetir exámenes y 24 horas después me llamo para indicarme que efectivamente Akiles salió positivo para esta enfermad que debe continuar en tratamiento, 0,6 cc de Doxipet (Doxicilina) cada 12 horas por un mes más su protector gástrico omeprazol 20 mg y al finalizar repetir examines.

Por ahora muestra mejoras a paso lento, pero ya su ansiedad por comer a cada minuto a disminuido, eso me alienta para los que desean una información un poco más técnica les dejo unos fragmentos de un articulo de internet del cual dejo la fuente, para que lo puedan consultar y si lo desean también pueden buscar mayor información, con solo colocar el nombre de la enfermedad.

La Hemobartonella felis fue descubierta por primera vez en África en el año 1942 pero no fue reconocida como un micoplasma que hasta hace poco, gracias a la secuenciación de sus genes.

...«Micoplasmosis Hemotropica felina«, que literalmente significa una infección de la sangre de los gatos con micoplasmas.

Los gatos se infectan a través de la picadura de una pulga infectada. Los micoplasmas (sin pared celular) se sitúan en los bordes de los glóbulos rojos, el sistema inmunológico del gato finalmente detecta proteínas extrañas en las células rojas de la sangre y comienza a crear anticuerpos. Estos anticuerpos se unen al micoplasma, y esta unión hace de marcador para los glóbulos rojos infectados para su posterior destrucción y eliminación.

El hierro de los glóbulos rojos destruidos se recoge y se recicla para producir nuevos glóbulos rojos. El problema es que si los glóbulos rojos parásitados son muchos habrá una destrucción importante y el gato se volverá anémico en consecuencia.

Síntomas

El gato enfermo infectado está:

• pálido (a veces incluso de color amarillo por la ictericia) y débil. Los gatos con anemia a menudo comen tierra o arena, en un intento de consumir hierro.

• La fiebre puede estar presente.

• Los análisis de sangre iniciales muestran no sólo la pérdida de glóbulos rojos, sino además una actividad de la médula osea (la fuente de nuevas células rojas de la sangre) importante, lo que significa que el cuerpo del gato sabe que está perdiendo glóbulos rojos y está tratando de hacer más, lo más rápido posible. Hablamos pues de una Anemia Regenerativa.

• Los gatos con infección concurrente virus de la leucemia felina tienden a tener anemias más graves ya que el virus no permite a la médula ósea responder.

En esta misma línea, como habrán leído las pulgas entre otros parásitos externos son unos de los trasmisores de este terrible bacteria, así que es de suma importancia que sus mininos estén protegidos sobre todo si salen y/o si tienen vecinos cerca con otros animales les protejan con pipetas y collares para evitar esta enfermedad o cualquiera de las otras que trasmiten las pulgas garrapatas y piojos, como siempre le recomiendo si notas algún síntoma o comportamiento extraño en tu gato, lo correcto es llevarlo al veterinario, ya que ellos como expertos serán quienes pueden darte la información adecuada y guiarte en que pasos seguir para la mejora de tu peludo.

Now, almost finishing his ophthalmologic treatment, I noticed Akiles thinner, he has never been fat, the reason, he is very active, but this thinness was accompanied by decay, he always showed to be cold looking to be in proximity of human heat sources and his gums looked very pale, While he was in treatment for his eye problem, the vets noticed something in his exams and prescribed him antibiotic and vitamin B12, because he had anemia, but then I learned that some hemoparasites are fed with vitamins and if you give them at the same time as the antibiotic, the latter does not have the desired effect.

So Akiles did not improve, he was hungry all the time and on one or another occasion I saw him dragging his butt on the floor which led me to believe he had parasites, but after deworming his constant hunger continued and he did not gain weight, so I called my trusted veterinarians who recommended me to perform a general profile to observe his values and a hemoparasite test, To our surprise and apparently because of the way Akiles behaved when we went to the lab, some tests showed doubtful results, but when we performed an echosonogram we observed his vessel was very inflamed. So he was prescribed 10 days of injected antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory together with corticoids and then oral treatment for a month.

In the same way, last week a veterinarian insisted me to go to his office to repeat tests and 24 hours later he called me to tell me that indeed Akiles was positive for this disease and that he must continue in treatment, 0.6 cc of Doxipet (Doxicillin) every 12 hours for a month plus his gastric protector omeprazole 20 mg and at the end repeat tests.
