A few years ago our calico cat, Kisu, gave birth to four beautiful little kittens.
These babies brought to so much joy to the dark days of the pandemic era we were living through. Argentina was in a state of total lock down, we couldn't leave our towns and as my partner & I had recently arrived in the area we had no friends nor sense of community.
In general we were quite lucky; we had a place to live, online work, and very few living expenses. And with the arrival of these four kittens the times in between taking care of work tasks was spent caring for the kittens and their mom.
Instead of worry about viruses and world events, my world was the cats! I laughed, smiled, and said "I love you!" more than any other time in my life ~ truly the best medicine for that year of isolation.
Not everything worked out as I had hoped and we couldn't keep all the kitties, I do enjoy walking down memory lane from time to time & looking at these kitten pictures.
Here is the beautiful tabby/calico Paprika. From the very beginning she showed herself to be smart and independent. She is one of those cats who knows how beautiful she is and also loves to be reminded of it daily. The first couple of years she was a bit grumpy too and has now matured (at four years old) in to a sweet, albeit lazy, kitty.
And the best friends forever, Tacu and Reishi, who still to this day will be found laying side by side. It is so sweet to see their companionship and reminds me that cats need community just as much as humans do.
