Greetings fellow Felines and Hoomans of the Hive!

Once again, we have arrived at the weekend, and it's time to observe that it is CATURDAY, which just happens to be my favorite day of the week... even though most days around here are actually day-of-the-cat!

Caturday is an almost 17-year old web tradition, so bring out all those cute cat and kitten photos!

In the spirit of the current Hive "Selfie craze," here's a nice portrait shot. I still struggle a bit with selfies because of the whole lack-of-opposable-thumbs thing, so this will have to do.

However, I bring this up because it's precisely the sort of initiative we need to make Hive more "approachable" to a more mainstream user.

What do you want?

CATS are another important aspect of building community!

How so? Well, LOTS of people keep cats, it's an easy piece of non-technical content to share, AND cats have sort of grown into the web's unofficial "totem animal."

Again, an easy way to participate.

Even the smallest sunny spot matters....

Of course, there are those who will argue that selfies and cat photos constitute low effort posting... but I have a feeling that would all pretty much sort itself out.

Consider that if Hive suddenly had even 100,000 ACTIVE posters, the rewards pool would be shared among that many more people, so it's not as if people would suddenly be making a mint off a few photos.

Just consider this post: It took about 50-60 photos to get three decent ones, and it's unlikely the rewards will be more than the price of a can of cat food. Not exactly extravagant!

Anyway, I wish you all a wonderful Caturday, wherever you may be... and remember to ask your Hooman for extra pats and treats today!

Cat Photos by Hive account@andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!

Cats by Hive account@captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.

Last but certainly not least, don't forget the dPet Community created by Hive account@kona, which is the original pet related "channel," and which typically also has lots of cat photos! This is also the home of the Daily Pet Photography challenge!

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
