I don't know how to say this but my cat hates the beach! 🤣 He damn gives me that annoyed look every time I bring him along with me to watch the sunset. But why wouldn't I? Just look at this serene and peaceful place that we have...
Minimalist living here has been a game-changer for me. I'm in touch with nature more than ever. I live by the beach so I get to swim or dive almost every day. I'm eating healthier and losing weight!
Not just that, Osiris gets to have a little bit of freedom here. We have a big backyard where he mostly hangs out, chases butterflies and chickens, and eats bugs! The only irony though is he doesn't like the beach. Even when I just put him on the sand, he hates it! Maybe because the sand is sticky? I know cats generally hate water let alone taking a bath but it would be nice for him to accompany me even just for sunset watching!
But let me share with you his first trip to the beach! To be honest, I didn't know what to expect. I was just hoping he would love the beach as I do.
It was about 4 pm and I have Osiris wear his cat shirt just so it would be easier for me to spot him just in case he runs for it! 😅 No matter where we go, I also have him wear his body harness, it's a lot easier for me to grab him just in case anything happens. So I carried him out a few meters from the shoreline until we reach the part where there was no water then I decided to put him down. The only thing I was worried about was the dogs who frequent the beach and might chase Osiris away so I was kind of vigilant as well.
Yes, Osiris was frozen on the spot! His mind was probably doing some mental calculations as to what the heck was going on and what he will do. 😭 Even when I call his name to come to me, he just wouldn't budge! And so I started walking a few steps from him and nothing. Then, I walked quite some distance that's when he finally moved and followed me while crying it out. Poor thing but I wouldn't waste our precious time. I need him to get used to our new home.
And if he stop following me to observe his surroundings, I would stop as well. I'd let him take his time to get acquainted with the wet sand, the sound of the people and dogs surrounding us, and the open space before his eyes. He would quietly observe the people passing by although I know he was probably terrified a bit. He would also try sniffing some things in the sand. As I continued walking, he would trail behind me almost like about to run just to catch up with me.
I didn't know if he was open to the idea of stepping into a puddle but when he did, he immediately tried to shake off the water from his paws. Until I decided to walk towards the part where the water was right up to the ankle. He was quite hesitant and kept looking at me but I didn't stop walking further. And alas! He didn't have a choice and jumped in on the water and quietly thread towards me. I was smiling ear to ear! Proud momma, I guess although I know he was just kind of forced to do so. 😂
Well, his face doesn't show any happiness at all on his first dip at the beach. I can't blame him though! He didn't have a choice. All he wanted was just to get the hell out of there as soon as possible. And so we did once I noticed he was shivering from the cold. I didn't want him to get sick though because of me. So although we were not able to wait for the sunset that day, I was thrilled with our first day together at the beach! It was memorable and most likely won't be our last!
A few days after that, we went back to the beach to watch the sunset again but this was also a failed mission.
Just after 15 minutes, we were back at the house since he was already shivering from being soaked in the water. This time he was annoyed that I brought him back to the beach. His face says it all! Oh, well! At least he is getting used to swimming in the water this time around! Anyways, Osiris and I shall update you next time!
