Hello to everyone in the community.
I really like the posts about cats. These wonderful creatures are always with us. I respect them for their character, independence and intelligence.
Each cat has its own character and it is so wonderful. Today I want to tell you about a striped cat that is no longer mine. Why not mine? Let's start with the story.
Two years ago, a kitten came to my yard. It was frightened and would not come into my arms. Over time, the fluffy little guy started to trust me and let me hold him. It was a grey boy with a slightly saиd look. My daughter named him Barney.
Our new pet had a very gentle disposition. He was so gentle and calm and did no harm at all. He would come over, put his head on my lap and gently look into my eyes. How could you not love him?
Barney lived with us for two years. During this time, he grew into a handsome cat, but remained as gentle and affectionate as ever. And everything would have been fine if my older cat Charlie hadn't decided to start bullying. Until this spring, the cats had been getting along well, and then the older one started to insult the younger one. He chased him away from his food, wouldn't even let him into the room. Barney became timid and nervous.
I tried everything to improve the situation: I consulted a veterinarian, gave him sedatives, etc.
Nothing helped.
A friend of my daughter's suggested that her friend take Barney away for a while to give the cats some time apart and finally solve the problem of their relationship. She took Barney because he is younger and much calmer. The older horse is wayward and not tactile at all. So Barney temporarily settled in a new family, which became his family.
The adaptation process went very quickly. The cat felt calm in his new home. We visited him often. Over time, it became clear that he was better off there than with us, where another cat lives.
I made a difficult decision not to take Barney home. My daughter's friend had become very attached to him and he had fallen in love with the girl. Although it hurt me a lot, I was guided by the cat's interests and well-being first and foremost.
Barney is doing great now. His new owner is taking good care of him. She sends me photos with the cat from time to time. I look at them and rejoice that my pet is safe, surrounded by love and kindness.
