Sometimes cats also can have a complicated family life. I know that some pets can be jealous, as it happens in my parents' house. They have an old dog and a relatively old cat, and as they get older (the pets) they become jealous. If the cat is pampered, the old Cocker Spaniel is already there and waits to receive some cuddles. If the dog gets a small bite as a reward (cleaning the paws from the mud before entering the house) the cat is there in no time and also wants the same tasty bite. The dog has one sleeping basket, but it is always the cat that wants to sleep there. The poor doggie can't squeeze himself into the cat's basket though. Stories every day that I hear from them.
However, it is not just a dog-cat relationship thing. Cats among themselves can have some weird behaviours. So, I have seen with my eyes how a grandma-cat and a grandson-cat can love each other, and the daughter-cat (mom of the grandson-kitty) goes with her own flow. She leaves them for a few days and comes back just when she wants. Usually, she comes back when there is food that she likes and not to be with the rest of the cat family. A bit strange behaviour... why she doesn't take care of her son and her mother?
Mouse (Ratona is her name in Spanish) is the ginger cat, the grandmother of Chapela (his Spanish name.) He is white and has one side of his right ear and the area around it of grey colour, so it resembles if he would wear a beret. Chapela is a kind of wide beret, typical for the Basque Country (Spain). He was not really in the mood to pose for photos, so the only photos I have of Chapela are this and when he is in his house with Mouse, his grandma.
That's the love I am talking about. They share the little house made for them, apart from going everywhere together and playing in the yard.
She is really friendly and likes to be pampered. Although I am not her human (these are the cats of a friend of mine) she was around, waiting for cuddles.
Playing is also one of her fortes. Find a stick that she can hunt and play and happiness is granted. I don't actually know any cat that doesn't like this game. Ok, maybe there is a grumpy cat around, in some hidden part of the world, but all those I met, and I met a lot like to play.
Yeah, all normal things that a cat would like, sleeping, eating, cuddling and playing... but going for a walk in a forest? Without leash? That is what she likes to do. When my friend takes a small walk around the house (which is situated in heart of nature) the grandma-cat, Mouse is going with her. I don't know if it is just because she is curious or if she is hoping to hunt nice prey, but she goes.
Already at home, playing the role of a guardian.
Someone is approaching the house? Should I bark? Or just meow? I have to protect my grandson, Chapela from all the intruders!
And here's the mom, Fuli. The one that decided to find her own life without taking care of the family bonds. Food? She will come! She even came closer to me, to have some cuddles... and this photo was born at that moment! The rest of the days she is exploring around on her own. But just look at those blue eyes. She is already forgiven for all the not being at home time 🙃
