Good afternoon beer lovers!
A nice stout is a thing of beauty.
Today, during my Sunday grocery run, I discovered this delicious chocolate stout called Pacaya by Quetzal Brewing Company, a newer player in the delicious game of craft beer but oh my! A great contender indeed!
The brewery is in the outskirts of Guatemala City, and is actually owned by a friend of mine.
The name "Pacaya" refers to the Pacaya volcano located in Escuintla, just outside the Guatemala City limits.
It's an active volcano and has lots of hiking trails on foot (and on horseback), petrified lava rivers, and red-hot rivers of lava too!
A lot of people bring marshmallows to roast, and some brave explorers even bring pizza ingredients!
When you're up close and personal with the volcano, it looks something like this:
The volcano is so close to the city, it can actually be seen from my balcony, but only at night. I will share some photos with you when I get a chance.
Whoops!
I almost forgot I was talking about #beer haha.
Anyway, this Pacaya stout has a nice thick head and caramel with chocolate flavour, absolutely surprising and absolutely delicious!
This stout has been added to my favorites list.
have a lovely Sunday everybody and don't forget to drink beer!
and if you're in the neighborhood, 4 Grados Norte, don't be shy and come say hi!
