Last weekend was mental. Between building an emergency garden fortress to stop my two Huskies escaping, fixing the family cars ready for their upcoming MOT test, and attending a rock concert, there was barely any time left to sit and enjoy a beer.
“Every action has an opposite and equal reaction”
To compensate for last weekend I purposely made a point to expend as little energy as possible physically and mentally. Even my choice of beer is a lazy one!
You can’t fault a go-to-beer when you’re in need of relaxation and Duvel is indeed my good old reliable. A crisp Belgium blonde that delivers a refreshing zing to the pallet. And if that wasn’t enough, a hefty dollop of alcohol(8.5%) helps jump start that liver to make sure it’s working as it should.
So, the beers taken care, but what about the entertainment? Well, as if the stars were aligned just for this day, it just so happens to be the weekend when Australia play New Zealand in the cricket World Cup final. Rippa!
It’s a shame it couldn’t have been England in the final, AGAIN, but we’ve got the Ashes series to look forward to, so no biggie. Anyway, we won the World Cup last year(have I mentioned that already?), and we also have to think about spanking those Aussies in the upcoming Ashes series, so plenty to look forward to 😃
Always room for a cheeky one…
Yesterday, the Mrs asked the rhetorical question; “do you want to go for a beer?” Do I want to go for a beer? It’s #beersaturday! That’s like asking Winnie the Pooh if he wants more honey 🍯
Now, I know I said that this weekend was about doing as little as possible, but nipping out to sample a new beer is always going to be beneficial for the soul, is it not?
And so, we ended up at one of our local bars, one which is actually more of a cocktail bar but I guess I can’t have it all my way. Due to the choice of venue, I wasn't hopeful of finding a quality beer and had come to terms with having to drink some weak lager off the pump. But no, this was my weekend and the stars have aligned to bring me good fortune, this time in the form of a hazy session IPA from Neon Raptor brewery 😁
Yet again, my rule of 6 has been undermined by a wonderfully tasting beer that is well below 6%. This hazy IPA not only has a great citrus taste with much more depth than I thought possible with such a low alcohol content, but also has a great name and some wonderful can art! Have to say my obsession with can art got me some funny looks on this occasion after folk at the bar saw me putting the empty can in my coat pocket. Surely I can’t be the only one who does this??
Along with Totally Tapped, Neon Raptor are another Nottingham brewery who are creating some awesome beers.
Hopefully, in the not-too-distant future, I’ll be taking a tour around both breweries with the purpose of bringing them to #beersaturday! Who knows, they might just sign up to hive and join in the beersaturday fun…
Now, all there is left for me to do is to eek out what’s left of my lazy weekend. It’s been a real treat and I have to say that I could get quite used to weekends like this one(not that the Mrs will ever let that happen 😂)
Hope you have all had a great weekend and a fun #beersaturday. See you all next week!
Before I go, I would like to invite along to the next #beersaturday! If you’re interested, just write a post about beer and include no less than 3 pics to go along with it. Simples!
