Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to share an awesome experience going to a local brewery!
Brewery Beer Saturday
I've been able to enjoy a little bit more of the Beer Saturday vibes lately and I've been certainly enjoying that!
With one of the recent things that my son and I have been doing a lot, indoor rock climbing, that's brought us to quite a few cool and interesting places. One of my sons favorite gyms is in one of the coastal towns and they have, incredibly conveniently perhaps, a brewery directly next door to the rock gym! Lol. It's a dangerous game, these people play let me tell you..
The brewery is pretty damn big too! They have quite the warehouse operation going here but it works well for them. They look like they have a pretty dedicated group of people, both customers and employees, that keep the business running nicely. This is always good to see because these things are the best ways to keep a local economy going. When the people that work there are also the people that shop there, and the people that shop there are helping support a good local business, that's by far the best way to fight off any of the economic bullshit that's going on in the world.
The brewery is clearly fairly successful as they have quite a giant operation! They've got all kinds of beer constantly brewing, supplies stacked everywhere and what's nice is that it's all incredibly clean. A lot of good things can be said about such an operation, as you feel comfortable getting your stuff here instead of a place that's sketchy and dirty.
The little man was enjoying seeing the giant brewing containers there, and I was explaining that each of them has one of the beers in it at various stages of being turned from ingredients and into beer. He was pretty interested and fascinated by it! He claimed that being in there, he could taste beer in his mouth. I'm glad that it probably wasn't the case as I might get in some type of legal trouble on that end lol but he certainly smelled it. The whole building smelled nicely of hops and things brewing along quite well!
They had an awesome deal too, you could get a 6 pack of pint cans for 20$! That's really a good deal for a nice beer like this. Getting beer at the grocery store, it costs 14 or 15$ for a 4 pack. Here it cost 20$ for a 6 pack! I definitely went for that one and what was also really cool is you could mix and match. They had 4 beers on display when I was there. I picked three of the most interesting ones! I might get the other kind next time we go back and I'm in need of some more beer but the 6 pack has lasted me all week and will last the weekend most likely, as I'm trying to lose a couple pounds haha.
I was really enjoying the different kinds that I got though! The one that surprised me the most was the porter. I'm not usually one into the really dark beers but this one was delicious. I know it would be right up 's alley! I think he loves those dark beers, just about any beer really but the dark ones. I'm more of an IPA guy myself but I wanted to branch out and took advantage of the time here and grabbed some new ones!
I've never had a Saison beer I don't think, but it's similar to an IPA except it's less tart or bitter, if that makes sense. It definitely feels like a really summery beer! I like those for sure, like a summer haze I think they are called.
What I tried first though was the porter. Damn was this thing good! It had all kinds of good flavor but what I liked about it was that it was super smooth. It wasn't incredibly strong like I thought it would be. Maybe I just had a bad experience with a really dank beer and I was afraid to try another one. With the mix and match deal, it made it a lot easier to give these a try. If I didn't like it, I could still suck down the 2 and just not buy it again. Thankfully, I think I'll be on the lookout for some more porter beers after this one!
