Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to come back with a #beersaturday since I've been out of it for a bit!
Fishy Beer Saturday
This beer Saturday is definitely one that got the best of me hahaha. I was at the grocery store the other day, grabbing a few things and I walked down the beer aisle to see if there was anything there that interested me. I wasn't really planning on getting something but said let's take a look and see if there is anything that either looks good or is on a good discount. I fell for the first category! :D
If you've been to my page, you know that I'm an avid fisherman with my son, we're always out there on adventures of some kind or another getting some fishing done. This beer company, one that's in the New Hampshire mountains area, knows how to market that's for sure!
I've never seen a beer with fish on it LOL I may have seen one where it's a small or insignificant fish or something but this beer here, this is specifically for the fishermen! They called this one "landlocked and brookies" which refers to the landlocked salmon that people can sometimes catch depending where you are, and brook trout also known as brookies.
I think these are pretty good fish species myself but one of the things that I like about it is that my son is a huge fan of brookies! I know that he doesn't really know what landlocked salmon are, but we did see some last year when we went to visit the gigantic Lake Winnipisaukee in New Hampshire. We were standing on a dock and we saw some landlocked salmon swim by which was nuts! Definitely want to see if we can do salmon fishing there at one point in our lives. We need a boat for that for sure though, so that's a bit of a ways off lol.
The brookies are definitely a fish that we've been trying to snag ourselves for quite a while! I am hoping that we will get lucky this year and catch a trout or two, a brookie would be really cool to snag if possible but I'd be happy with any of them. My son would too!
When I showed him the beer that I got, he just cracked up laughing thinking how silly it was, but marketing genius, that a beer company would put some fish on the can. When I showed it to him, he immediately knew that one of them was the brookie that he is fond of, I think he just likes saying brookie lol.
The beer was a good tasting one, typical IPA with nothing fancy and everything you would expect. I enjoyed it for sure, it was a good flavor and not too bitter or too sweet. It had some decent notes to it! I would definitely get it again, not just because of the really awesome marketing they did with the cans haha.
I'm also glad to get back to my beer mug! We packed these things away last year, thinking we were going to move. That didn't turn out so we are unpacking some of the things and going through the boxes and throwing shit away. I couldn't throw away my Cheers beer mug though! I fondly put that back in the cabinet and tossed the mason jar I was using before instead lol
