Hello Hivers and beer lovers, I hope your weekend is going great.
Nowadays, there is a growing trend to find craft beer in the places where you go to eat, at least in Caracas. Some of them are produced locally on the spots, and some are craft beers that have started to flood the local market. I'm going to tell you about my experience trying a couple of these beers for this week's #BeerSaturday.
The husband and I finally went a couple of weeks ago to a place we had been wanting to try for a while. The spot called Puerko's is in Caracas. It had been recommended to us because of the food.
On arrival, when we went to order our drinks, we were offered the house craft beer, called Puerkolica, among all the options.
Puerkolica, according to its label, is an American pale ale. It's a blonde medium-bodied beer. Not too strong. And it has a slight smoky touch, like a distant bacon flavor. It was nice to try it, but I wouldn't order it again.
As we didn't want to repeat with the Puerkoholic beer, we ordered the other craft beer option they had on the menu. A beer called Vulgara.
Vulgara is a pale ale. I found it light, amber in tone, and a bit more carbonated than I prefer beer. But when it is chilled, it is pleasant to drink.
The food was so tasty. We had a rack of pork ribs with fries while we drank a couple of more Vulgara beers.
A unique touch of the place that I loved was a large mural on one of the walls, done by a Venezuelan muralist who goes by the nickname Badsura. He has become known in the city for his Street Art that I have referred to before in the #SreetArtCommunity.
The food is good. It is not cheap. But for the prices you see around here these days, I'd say it's OK. And I would go back. I would pass on the Puerkolica beer, though. It was okay to try it once, but it's nothing memorable. The Vulgara, although it wouldn't be one of my favourite beers, isn't bad, and I could have it again.
And since it's been a while since he has invited me for a beer, even if it's virtual. This week of #BeerSaturday, I like to invite to join the fun. Maybe you won't make it for this week's Super Ed, but how about the next ;)
