After my amazing journey through Asia... first in Malaysia, then Thailand, and finally back to Malaysia — I landed safely in Belgium. Not long after I arrived, my good friend took me to a very special place. It was a shop that offers over 1000 different types of beer. For someone like me who really enjoys Belgian beer, it felt like a dream come true.
Inside the shop, I walked past shelves filled with colorful bottles, rare labels, and all kinds of beer styles. From light blond ales to heavy tripels, from hoppy IPAs to experimental brews, everything was there. I could have stayed there for hours, but I focused and carefully picked out 11 beers that I plan to enjoy during the cozy Christmas season.
Altogether, I paid 24,30 euro for these carefully selected beers. I think I found some really good ones, and maybe even a few hidden gems. Some of them are Belgian classics, while others are international or craft collaborations.
Here is the full list of the beers I picked:
| Beer Name | Brewery / Origin | Style / Specification | Alcohol (ABV) | Price (€) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Moesjke Blond | Brouwerij Het Anker (Belgium) | Belgian Blond Ale | ~6.5% | 2.15 |
| Fourchette | Brouwerij Van Steenberge (Belgium) | Strong Blond Ale / Tripel-style | ~7.5% | 2.15 |
| Belgicus SQ IPA | Belgicus Brewery (Belgium) | India Pale Ale (IPA) | ~6.5% | 2.05 |
| Titanium | Mélusine x Brussels Beer Project | Strong Blonde / Experimental Ale | ~8.0% | 2.60 |
| 4800 Triple | Brasserie de la Senne (Belgium) | Belgian Tripel | ~9.0% | 2.35 |
| De Ranke Simplex | De Ranke Brewery (Belgium) | Hoppy Blond Ale | ~6.0% | 1.65 |
| Wolf Carte Blanche | Wolf Brewery (Belgium) | White Beer / Wheat Beer | ~5.0% | 1.95 |
| Messner IPA | Messner Brewery (Italy) | Classic IPA | ~6.0% | 2.20 |
| Belgicus Gold | Belgicus Brewery (Belgium) | Strong Golden Ale | ~8.5% | 1.90 |
| Moeder Overste Triple | Belgian Craft Brewery | Belgian Tripel | ~8.0% | 1.90 |
| Hopnyized DIPA | Hop Hooligans / Collab Brew | Double IPA (DIPA) | ~8.5–9.0% | 2.20 |
Some of these breweries are very well known in the Belgian beer scene, while others are more niche. For example, De Ranke is famous for their balanced, hop-forward ales that stay close to traditional methods. On the other hand, Hop Hooligans from Romania are known for their creative and bold IPAs, often made in collaboration with other craft brewers.
Now I am curious... have you tried any of these beers before? If yes, let me know what you thought of them. I would love to hear your opinion. And also, which one should I start with? Should I go light and easy first, or jump right into the bold and boozy ones?
Let me know in the comments, and I will share some tasting notes soon. Cheers! 🍻
