I rarely drink an alcoholic drink, and I am honest to say that ever since I have never tried being drunk. However, since today is National Beer Day, I am raising a glass of beer with my cousin.
I have learned from the Hive Blog Posting Month that on April 7th, beer lovers worldwide raise glasses in celebration of National Beer Day.
Since it is a holy week here in my country, I am thinking of not drinking it, so I enjoyed raising the beer literally as my cousin would have a taste of it for her period so she would feel better.
Although I am not a habitual drinker, I am still raising the glass to participate in today’s challenge and enjoy the fun, as well as I am motivated to accomplish the challenge for the Hive Blog Posting month for April 2023. Perhaps I always wish to join the fun and be able to achieve the daily challenges. How I hope I can finish it until the last day.
And so I took a lot of photos near the lights in our landscape, and the effects look looked so beautiful as I raised the beer toward the sky.
It is San Miguel Flavored Beer with 3% Alcohol in an Apple Flavor.
So I am raising a glass of beer now and letting it reflect on the beautiful lights outside my landscape, and it had beautiful reflections of the golden light and the green ornamental plant beside my house.
It is almost evening on my side, and I capture many photos through my snaps. And here are the shots I took as I raised my glass earlier.
On the other side of the coin, I have heard from many people that alcohol consumption is not a healthy habit. However, as a Science teacher, I have read in some journals even before that moderate beer drinking can offer some health benefits, for it is rich in antioxidants and other essential chemicals that our body needs.
Here in the Philippines, there is a superstition that whenever a girl has a period, she drinks beer, so the aches from the menstruation would be gone because the beer could make the menstruation flow better. No scientific evidence exists, but this is how my cousin does it.
Indeed, I often heard way back in high school from my classmates and their moms that there is a belief that drinking beer can help ease the discomfort associated with menstruation. And that while there is no scientific evidence to support this, it remained a common practice among many Filipino friends I know.
Since my cousin has a period, I bought a beer for her a while ago. It is one of the most popular and economical beers in the Philippines with an apple flavor. I bought a bottle of beer for her. After raising a glass of beer, I let her drink it, but I tasted only a little. Regardless of the reason for drinking beer, it is always important to always drink responsibly and be watchful of our health.
And I choose to raise a glass to celebrate the National Beer and take a moment to appreciate it, although I am not an alcoholic drinker.
Cheers to all beer lovers around the world!
