This #Beersaturday my wife and I took our new puppy camping for the first time in our RV. We loaded up the cooler with many different beers and left. Being that this was the first time we have taken our 5 month old Siberian Husky puppy with us we went close to home. About forty minutes from our home is Lake Del Valle located in Livermore, California.
A sampling of what we loaded the cooler with.
This is our puppy named Timber.
This is our older Corgi named Rocco.
We arrived at the campsite and I quickly set up the RV and put some lines out for the dogs to play outside while remaining close to us. My brother in law and sister in law who were recently married stopped by to visit with us. We enjoyed a few drinks and I started with "Satan wears Pajamas" which is an American Red Beer.
Satan wears Pajamas is brewed by Paperback brewing in Los Angeles, California. I have previously posted about two of their other unusual packaged beers they have brewed one being "Bunny with a Chainsaw" and the other was “Fluent in Sarcasm”. This beer unlike the other two I have had was not an IPA, this time it was an American Red. Satan wears Pajamas comes in at 7.1% ABV and is brewed with Azacca, Ekuanot, and Colombus hops. This was a great beer. This beer had the taste of a red but also had a strong hoppy flavor. Paperback brewery has some very unusually canned beers, check them out at https://www.paperback.la/#ontap.
We camped for 4 days so there was plenty of time to sit back and drink different beers. Another beer that I had during this camping trip, was Dragon's Milk White.
Dragon's Milk White is a great tasting Stout that is very complex and #alive with flavors. The beer is amber colored with a slight stout like flavor. This beer is creamy and has a pleasant sweet taste. This makes for a beer unlike anything I have ever had. I really enjoyed this beer, it is easy to drink and it comes in at 6% ABV. The beer is brewed by New Holland Brewing in Holland, Michigan. Looking on their website they make about a half dozen varieties of the Dragons Milk, which I have posted about before. If you come across one of these you will not be disappointed.
The next beer I will cover is the Almanac brewing's Flow Pale ale which is brewed in Alameda, California. The city of Alameda is located on an island on the east side of San Francisco Bay. The pale ale was a great example of a pale ale. The pale ale is not overhopped which is something brewers love to do in California. The Pale ale comes in at 5.5% ABV and is dry hopped with SImcoe and El Dorado hops.
The next beer was an IPA and a great tasting one, which was called Hank the Tank. The name Hank the Tank comes from a bear that roams the Lake Tahoe, California area. Hank the tank is a very large fat black bear who has caused alot of damage to cars and cabins in the Lake Tahoe area when he breaks in for a free meal.
Hank the Tank is brewed by Jackrabbit brewing located in West Sacramento, California. Hank the Tank comes in at 7.2% ABV and is a well balanced IPA.
One of my favorite IPA's is Wolf Among Weeds brewed by Golden Road brewing in Los Angeles, California. So I was excited to see Big Hazy Wolf a double hazy IPA. Big Hazy Wolf did not disappoint, it comes in at 9% ABV and has the fruity hop flavors expected with a hazy.
When I finished the Big Hazy Wolf I set it down next to me and Timber approved of what was left in the can.
The last beverage that I will talk about is a cider my wife and I shared. The cider was a limited edition cider made by 2Towns Ciderhouse located in Corvallis, Oregon. The cider was called Dragon's Day Off and was a Dragon fruit and Passion fruit cider. I was surprised that it was not too sweet. I am not big on ciders but this one was delicious.
After a nice 4 day camping trip we all returned #aliveandthriving. Timber did great for his first trip. Timber returned tired and dirty, which he did not mind, he did mind the bath when he got home.
Hope everyone enjoyed their #Beersaturday.
