It has been a while since I have posted anything on #beersaturday, because I have been recovering from Long Covid (Post Acute Covid Syndrome to sound smart), back procedures and a few surgeries. I recently posted about my struggle with Long Covid and these surgeries on the following post if your interested @scoutroc/even-when-you-get-knocked.
So I have been limited to what I can post from having carpal tunnel surgery to both hands, but always try to support the #beersaturday posts. Enough about that lets get to the beers.
My #beersaturday was quite just my wife, dog, and I watching TV. The first beer I had was a new addition to the Vodoo Ranger IPA line from New Belgium Brewing. The beer was called Vodoo Ranger Fruit Force.
New Belgium Brewery is located Fort Collins Colorado and is most famous for it's Fat Tire ale but the Vodoo Ranger line is becoming it's main line of beers.

Fat Tire is a beer that is easy drinking and found in many restaraunts and bars. But this is about the Vodoo Ranger IPA line. Vodoo Ranger is a line of about 8 beers that always have a skeleton dressed in different clothing on the label. The beers are all IPAs except that I just saw that there is a Vodoo Ranger hard Ice Tea.
Anyways, I really like the Vodoo Ranger line from there basic IPA to the Imperial IPA but I had never seen or heard of a fruit punch IPA. The alcohol content was high at 9.5% but I really liked it. I did not get the typical IPA bitterness and hoppy smell that I am use to. The flavor was a fruit punch flavor which was light enough not to completely mask the beer flavor. I did enjoy this beer.
As I went to get up from the couch I looked down and saw my puppy who is now a year and a half old, laying below me. His name is Timber and he is my shadow. He is a great dog and at times I belive he knows I am recovering and he wants to take care of me.
Since that photo doesn't show his face, here is another photo that shows him better.
My second beer was a Hazy IPA called Ripe from Great Notion Brewery in Portland, Oregon. I have had other beers from Great Notion and I have liked them. One beer I posted about previously was the Blueberry Tart beer which was different. This one was a great example of a Hazy IPA with plenty of hop flavor and smell.
I just noticed as I was writing this post that both beers this time have skeletons dressed up on their labels.
The Ripe Hazy IPA has a 7% ABV and the great hop flavors and smells come from the dry hopping process. During the dry hop process they add Citra hops which add citrus flavors. If you are not familiar with dry hopping, I will give a quick explanation. Usually hops are added during the brewing process and boiled into the beer. Dry hopping is after the brewing process the beer is transferred to a fermenter and during the fermentation process the hops are added. Adding the hops during the fermentation usually gives very strong hop flavor and smell, that is so common with IPA.
Thanks for reading and hopefully I will be able to start posting more regularly
