This is second day of the regional meet where community colleges around Region 6 have gathered here in Bago City.
The room provided supposedly for our team was shared with the School Clinic's Medical Team. It couldn't accommodate us all if we decide to stay at Bago City College for three days. That will be difficult and we couldn't rest properly at the same time which could possibly our efficiency at work as well. We decided to go home the other night and sleep at our office in Bacolod City College - Taculing Campus.
Aside from the shower rooms that weren't packed with players and staffs so early in the morning, we had a good rest since our office have enough space for all of us and it is airconditioned unlike there at Bago. The only hassle we had was when traveling from our campus to Bago City since we have to wake up early and prepare ourselves, then take an early bus going there. Sometimes, the waiting time for the bus would take longer than usual, or the travel time of the bus will be slower since the bus will pick up passengers on different points from time to time. And that's the issue there, we have to be posted at the sports location before they start playing.
With our ice buckets, in case of cramps, medical kits, spineboards and water bottles, we have been posted on two different venues. In that case, we have divided the team into two to response accordingly.
The small wound and the swelling part weren't mostly visible after I applied an ice compress after more than 2 hours.
In some cases also, tables can turn where accidents could happen. Of all the audiences inside the volleyball court, I've been the one choosen to be hit by that ball, and it also hit my friend beside me. We're both girls with glasses, upon impact, the metal screws on the nose part misaligned and sunk a bit on my skin. It bruised and hurts my nose that it was bleeding a little. On my side, my friend's glasses have been broken and she cried over it while I was compressing ice over my bruised face. That was way worse than what I've got here since she couldn't totally see clearly. We have to guide her while walking to keep her safe.
We both rested after the incident, and the team reunited with us in the afternoon. There wasn't any untoward incidents at the post aside from that. Just some a little misunderstandings but was resolved at the end of the day. Like what happened to me, I was even enraged about it since I find it rude for the player and the coach of tha school that they didn't even approach us to applogize for what happened. A simple courtesy can compensate for that, not really paying back for the damages they've done since it was an accident. But no, we haven't heard a word until our Adviser confronted them.
They apologized and told us they didn't notice since they focused on the game. Though it wasn't that much acceptable since few audiences and some of their players saw it, we accepted their apology and keep the game going. I was just sorry for my new glasses to be defected in a short span.
That's some of the highlights on my Day 2 of being a Medical Responder on ALCOR GAMES 2024. See you in Day 3 and thanks for reading!
