The day of writing: September 27, 2022
Just 3 days away from my much awaited Inktober celebration!!! My excitement is off the roof with this and this year I'm really making preparations to complete inktober.
Just a little background on inktober though:
Inktober was first established in 2009 by Jake Parker. The event was made in order to establish good drawing habits and for inking practices. It's not that easy to ink and there're plenty of ways to go about it. Obviously, practicing every day is the key here and that's just what happened. Eventually, the yearly self practice became a much known artist trend and a number of artists have always been excited to participate in this yearly trend.
And obviously, that includes me in the hopeful participants of this year 😅
See, I've already started on the first day XD this is my attempt at not missing a day, but obviously I'm not going to post the final piece anywhere until the actual 1st of October. Looks pretty good despite it still being a WIP, actually 😅
And I spent a lot of time brainstorming and plotting everything just to make sure I don't miss a day this year. See, my entire October content is pretty much set up because of this 🤣
No regrets though. My determination is strong and my love for drawing and creativity (plus my will to write) hopefully stays as strong too 🤣
If not, then I'll just push through with the drawings and maybe just compile them weekly if I run out of words.
Here's my current preparation because I work with liquid inks and it takes forever to dry!!!
This is the first 3 days of the 31 day prompt. I worked on those at night because I was busy with digital art and lab hunting in the morning.
Then these are the remaining days, but due to my limited table and drying space, I had to do the ink base in batches of 3. Sadly, my sister wouldn't lend me her hair dryer so I couldn't dry these faster, but oh well, at least I finished inking all 31 prompt words in. My only wish now is that I can actually finish all the renders.
These are my current renders that I worked on while waiting for the other papers to dry. And I'm pretty proud of my progress so far with all of this UwU
I can definitely say that I'm much more prepared this year.
As to why I make such a big deal out of this is because (1) I really want to challenge myself to draw daily. Like full render and in full detail of everything I want to put on a drawing. And (2) I've always been busy in October. This is the only year that I am not busy (yet) and I'd really like to make use of my time wisely for this.
There are controversies surrounding Inktober though and that falls with its founder and with art plagiarism back in 2020. Inktober kind of lost its edge in that year and the art community did try to make alternative events for it. So eventually, inktober became artober. But artober covered all of the ber months.
So probably by November.... I'll be working on another art prompt 🤣
Because I found this cute artober prompt on Instagram which is called witchtober and apparently, the prompt rules say that I need to make a witch character and make use of the prompt words.
This actually seems doable, but the problem is with designing my own witch. I'll get to that eventually though. I'm still thinking if I'll be participating in that prompt.
That's all from me for today!
All photos are mine except for the screenshot, but I made sure to capture the original poster too UwU Thank you for stopping by!
