Hello everyone!
A lot of people are still curious and not aware about the scope of practice of Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) . So I made these slides to explain the basic and current information of this profession.
Everytime I meet new people and they ask me what I do, I proudly tell them that I am an SLP and wait for their reaction. I would already expect a follow-up question of "What is that exactly?" It can be funny but also pretty sad that not a lot of people know about us. If it wasn't for my highschool instructor, I wouldn't know about this either. Anyway, it is my duty to advocate our profession and let people know that we are here to help you in the best way that we can.
If you are a student who's still contemplating about what to take up for college, you might want to consider this career if it's in your interest. If you are a health professional or an educator, you might want to team up with SLPs and see where we can assist you. If you are a parent, you might want to consult with an SLP if you have concerns that are within our expertise.
