Rainy day

It was Tuesday afternoon when the clouds started to darken, there was a sign of heavy rain. Almost every afternoon here in our place heavy rains are pouring. Even if it's not rainy season yet.

I prepared our dinner early so we could eat and rest early. After eating our two workers are cleaning the kitchen. One is washing the dishes while the other cleans the kitchen counter. As my husband was preparing for his Zoom class, I went to the comfort room to prepare myself to sleep. While I was in the comfort room I heard a very loud noise, so I decided to get out and see for myself what is that loud sound, I just thought it was our car that was hit. So I leaped faster than I could.

A big branch falls down

Just then one of our workers said "Ate look" and he pointed to our kitchen roof where there is a big branch of a tree fell from above and hit our roof. I felt relief that it was not our car but I felt sad because It was another added expense.

Rain keeps on pouring with thunder and lightning so we decided to get it in the morning when the rain stops. I am also afraid because the branch that falls on our roof is beside our main line of electricity. We just put a basin in the center where the branch fell to prevent our kitchen from flooding. And so we decided to rest. But later that night I could not sleep because I was thinking that God is really good to us cause it happened when nobody was in the kitchen already.

A busy day.

Early in the morning, we start cleaning. We ate our breakfast early and prepared to get those branches from our roof. My husband and Charles our working student started clearing and cleaning. It was really a big branch of a tree. Our house is located in a place that is full of trees which is why it is called Ecology.

Let's do the repair.

After the clearing, I told my husband to repair the damage, so they went to the hardware and bought G.I. sheets and coconut wood. And so the repair started but as Charles went up and started pulling the G.I., sheets his thumb was hit on it and blood started to flow. So we let him down and had some first aid before continuing the repair. The other working student, Princess is cleaning the ground where leaves and branches are there.

Food for the hard work

After the repair, I gave them a cooked banana so they could have some snacks. At lunch time I decided to cook adobo for them so they could have a sumptuous meal after all the busy days. We also put some roofing tape on the other roof because of the leaks in their rooms. After everything was done we took our nap.

Sometimes tragic things happen unexpectedly, but you have to be resilient and ready always. We cannot choose what will happen next but we can choose our actions and respond. All these things happen for a reason. And those unexpected happenings will expose who we really are in times of adversity.
