Grace and I went to the Cebu Doctors Hospital few days ago to claim our certificate that we donated blood in the Blood Bank. It is one of the requirements of the Maternity Package we availed from North General Hospital. After claiming our certificate, we strolled by the streets of Colon, Cebu City because it is just one bus ride away.
The experience was like a dejavu. It brought back old memories during college because certainly Colon Street was part of that. I used to walk in these streets after school to catch for a jeepney, or look for tools and materials for school projects, to eat in food stalls, and many more.
Anyway, we have seen colorful decors all over the place because of the celebration of the Sinulog Festival. Although there are still traces of the Christmas Season, it is already out numbered by the Sinulog banners, flaglets, and decorations. I do not know if these hanging umbrellas were for Sinulog, but surely these hyped and vibed the celebrations even more.
We were planning to ride another bus to head home but we saw a very interesting and colorful store. Grace and I decided to hop in the store called LOLLI Milk Tea and Candy. And here we go...
LOLLI is a small store selling candies and milk tea. They sell variety of sweets such as hard candies, gummies, lollypops, chewing gums, and the like. They are also selling milk teas or boba because that is still a thing here in our country.
The banner was quite simple yet very tempting for a sweet-tooth like me and Grace. But, we are the kind of sweet-tooths that limit our sweet intake as much as possible especially for Grace who is pregnant now. We just give in to our weakness from time to time.
When we entered the small and narrow store, it displayed all the kinds of candies you can think of. It was well-arranged in the shelves making it more tempting to customers. But, as I said, It was very narrow inside. In my estimates, the width only measures 2 meters.
At the end of the candy display is there small counter where you pay the candies you take from the shelves or order milk teas. While we were picking and choosing for the goods that we wanted to buy, we were assisted by an old chinese man who speaks our dialect very well. So, clearly that was the owner of this store.
Another good point about this store is that they put very clear price tags to their products. I know that it is not very unique, but I have to say that it is a good one because some stores do not do that now. And for people who has tight budgeting, that is very necessary.
I remember my mouth salivating when I saw these sweets! But, as much as I would like to eat sweets very often, I do not want to get diabetes! I am not getting any younger and I need to take good care of my health especially now that Grace and I are expecting our little one. Grace, also needs to lessen her sugar intake because it is not healthy and safe for pregnant women.
After few minutes of thinking what we would buy and give to my nephews, we have decided to just purchase 4 candies worth 25PHP each or .5 USD and an orange gummy, worth 85PHP or 1.3 USD. We were already happy of our purchase, so we decided to ride a bus going home.
As soon as I reached home, I called my nephews for my sweet surprise. They were so excited to know what we brought for them. When they learned that it is a candy lollipop, they were so excited to unwrap and then lick them. We had fun because I told my nephew that the first to finish the candy-lollipop first would win another prize!
Expectedly, the childish behavior of me was unwrapped also. I also join them while they were doing the challenge I gave to them. It was fun and sweet moments for us!
So, that is it guys! I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I do. Are you like me who loves sweets too? Are you worried about your health if you eat sweets?
