This blog is a simple story of bayanihan, friendship, and hope. We are sharing this not just to document an event, but to remind everyone that happiness can still be rebuilt especially for children after fear and uncertainty.
After the earthquake, we noticed that many kids were still carrying fear in their hearts. It wasn’t only fear of the shaking ground, but fear that their dreams might stop because of what happened. As friends, we felt a strong responsibility to do something meaningful, even in a simple way, to help them feel safe, joyful, and hopeful again.
That is why we organized a feeding program together with fun games for the children. It was our way of showing that they are not alone and that the community still cares deeply for them.
At exactly 10:00 AM, we started preparing the food. Everyone helped—this was bayanihan in action. Some were cooking, others were packing, and some were arranging the drinks to make distribution easier later on. We prepared spaghetti, ham sandwiches, and Zest-O drinks. While working, there was laughter and teamwork. It was tiring, but our hearts were full because we knew everything we were doing was for the kids.
By 1:00 PM, the program officially began. As the children arrived, their smiles immediately changed the atmosphere. Seeing their excitement and energy made us forget all the exhaustion from the morning preparations.
We started the program with games to help them relax and enjoy the moment. The kids participated in Hip Hip Hurray, Stop Dance, Trip to Jerusalem, Eat the Biscuit, and Left and Right. Their laughter filled the area, and for a while, the memories of the earthquake faded. They were just being kids again happy, playful, and carefree.
After the games, we distributed the food. Watching the children eat happily, some asking for extra spaghetti, was one of the most rewarding moments of the day. It reminded us that joy can come from simple things—a warm meal, a fun game, and people who genuinely care.
This feeding program showed us that bayanihan is still alive. It lives in small acts of kindness, in friends who work together, and in communities that choose compassion over fear. We may not be able to erase the trauma caused by the earthquake, but we can help heal it one smile at a time.
For the children: keep dreaming. The earthquake may have shaken the ground, but it will never stop your big dreams.
For everyone: let us continue spreading hope, kindness, and unity.
