I awoke at 3 a.m. to the sound of my cellphone vibrating, reminding me that NDRRMC is warning us about Typhoon Verbena, that hit several areas today. Signal number one includes our region.
Red rainfall warning in Iloilo and Capiz. Expect heavy rain, flooding, and landslide.
I also awoke because the rain was heavy and the sound on our roof was so loud that you would wake up even if it was cold, lol.
I awoke at 6 a.m. again and went outside; the clouds were very dark due to the storm, and the weather was extremely humid. Even though I didn't want to go out, I wanted to drop a coin into my sister's peso WiFi haha. This is our signal here in the province to have internet because our SIM cards don't have signal, especially when it rains.
After paying ten pesos for Wifi, I noticed my brother's carabao in the rice field eating grass. And a white bird came closer to them that we call "tolabong." It's cute to look at, right? Hehe, and even though it was cold, my brother got up early to put his carabao in the rice field.
The water in the rice field was starting to flood near my aunties house when they were rescued by Typhoon Uwan.
While my husband and I were drinking coffee and eating bread, my son was eating a biscuit and watching the raindrops, chickens, ducks, and people go by. He was overjoyed when someone passed by, haha. Although his cousin, who was nearly his age, was there. He was the only one in the photo due to his cousin's crying. After we had a coffee, he took our glass and used it as a toy.
Auntie Magda, who lived in the other village, stopped by our house to give us a free sample of pomelo, she said we should try it before buying because she was selling it. We haven't eaten it yet because the weather is cold and maybe out stomach may hurts. She just dropped if off at our house because she was going to the market; Tuesday is a market day here, so the prices are low, especially for fish.
Because of the heavy rain, it's too lazy to go out of the house. grr!
My husband decided to cook our viand, which is chicken for lunch, and he added papaya and horseradish. It's a perfect sip of chicken soup when the weather is so cold.
When I went out at 3 p.m. to take a bath, I was surprised to see that the water level in the rice fields had risen. Look how quickly the water moves. Fortunately, the rain and wind were not too heavy here. But it still flooded because my father's rice fields were always submerged in the water when it rained hard, and he never got anything and had to plant rice again and again when some of his rice fields were flooded.
However, the sun is shining now, and the storm has passed through our area.
Another thing that happened today was that my sister-in-law made pancakes for all of us. She only used flour, eggs, baking soda, and white sugar to make pancakes. We were the only ones eating, so the circles they were not perfect haha. Her pancakes were delicious because they were large; I wanted to help her, but I couldn't because my son had a fever because his gums were growing, and he was crying.
Even though our area was not severely affected by the typhoon, I hope all the typhoons that will come in the Philippines will weaken so that no more houses will be damaged and no more loved ones are lost due of the floods caused by the typhoon. Manefisting!
I wanna end it here,I hope you all are safe. π€ππ»
