Biyahero contest: The FAFI fart story!
Tanza, Cavite is enriched with plenty of transportations like tricycles, jeepneys, baby buses, cabs, and air-conditioned buses. I lived in Amaya, and the main transportation we used was a tricycle and baby bus. It was rare if jeepneys would route in our place because they should have not. Meaning, that each barangays in Tanza has a unique mode of transportation.
From the year 2017 to 2019, I was forced to use air-conditioned buses as my main transportation going to school. I have a favorite bus line called FAFI. FAFI buses are small air-conditioned buses that can occupy at least 20-24 passengers. The two main reasons why I prefer FAFI over ordinary buses are because they don't stop at terminals for long and the fare is the same as ordinary buses.
My senior high school location is located in Bacoor and as I mentioned, I lived in Tanza. The distance between the two locations is 17 kilometers. In addition, the hassle of going to school is the traffic. I have to go through 3 traffic locations. Fairly enough, I enjoyed the long journey back and forth. However, there are disadvantages to traveling long distances. It was either you have to hold your pee or have a bad stomach.
There are days when the FAFI buses are full. I have no choice but to stand and wait for someone to get off the bus. I experienced standing for an hour or longer which made my feet, knees, and legs stronger. The first time I stood on the bus, I didn’t know the proper way to stand and place my feet. It always causes me to either hug next to me (which is kind of embarrassing) or head bangs the person at my back.
Most people from Maragondon, Naic, and Tanza prefer to ride in FAFI going to Bacoor and Zapote because of the convenience. It would take you less time than ordinary buses. FAFI bus has their TV. Oftentimes, they played action movies which I enjoyed the most. I hate when someone's head was covering my view. It is kind of annoying because you can't watch the film.
One time, I attended a Sunday worship in Imus, Cavite. I have been attending our church for over 2 years that day. We will be having a treat in our tribe. The tribe means a group of men or women studying the Word every week. The party started with plenty of food on the table. I cannot forget that I ate various foods which I regret later on. We bid goodbye to each other and since I am the only one living in Tanza, my direction is opposite from theirs.
I was walking beside SM Bacoor when I felt my stomach acting weird. I kept my posture, standing tall as if nothing was happening. I went straight to the bus terminal and luckily there was a FAFI bus. But, the bus is already full. I still get inside because I have to go home early. It was around 2 in the afternoon and I expected no traffic along the way.
The pressure in my stomach is becoming stronger and stronger. The cold I felt inside added to the pressure and the sweat coming out of my face is evident. I had to wipe the sweat because someone might have noticed that I was having a bad time. How I prayed that time to skyrocket the speed of the bus. When I heard the engine start, I felt at ease. We were at Habay highway when the bus stopped without notice.
At that exact moment, the clouded fart I was holding suddenly burst like a rotten egg boiling in hot water. It popped out of nowhere and the smell scattered in the air. The faces I saw in front of me were having a hard time breathing. I was holding my breath as well because the scent of the air was unbearable. I acted as if it was not me. People switched positions and from the back, I was now in the middle. The foul scent stayed at least half an hour.
I went home with mixed emotions. I was happy because finally I can release what should be released, and embarrassed because of what happened. At that moment, I knew it was the most unfortunate and unforgettable experience I had had on the FAFI bus. The next day, I didn’t ride the FAFI bus because of my embarrassment. I shared the shameful and humiliating experience with my friends. They laughed hard and could hardly breathe. I smiled at them. Thus, I said to myself, “I will not do it again FAFI.”
