Our teacher, Miss Aileen split our section into two groups or sets. I was happy then knowing that I and my friend Ralph belong to set A and scheduled every Monday-Tuesday (whole day classes). While set B was scheduled every Wednesday-Thursday. Pupils that belong to set B were supposedly the unvaccinated pupils only to separate them from the vaccinated ones. But since we only have 4 unvaccinated classmates, our teacher decided to join them with vaccinated pupils and put them to set B. This kind of setup makes me miss some of my friends who belong to set B.
Luckily, my brother's schedule for classes was also changed. He belongs to set A which is scheduled to report every Monday-Thursday (morning only). Mom asked me to accompany my brother on his way to school every Wednesday and Thursday. At first, I was a little hesitant since I have nothing to do in school but to wait for my brother for 3 hours of classes! How boring it will be!
But then mom explained that I still can go to our classroom, sit in the back and listen to the teacher. In that way, I can have my review our lessons and have the chance to see my friends in set B. It made me excited, so I said yes to mom.
So Wednesday came, and I got up early like my usual morning routine for school. I and my brother ate our breakfast and then went to school. I dropped him in his classroom and went to my classroom. When I got there my classmates immediately started calling me "President" (the story in my previous post). If you haven't read it, I highly recommend reading that post, the link is down below.
Now let's get back to the story. My classmates questioned why I was there and I explained that I dropped off my brother and wait 'till his class ended. I feel like I will get bored of waiting outside his classroom so I decided to come there.
Then the teacher came and I said "Ma'am, can I set in for a while?". She was a little hesitant but she agreed so I sat on my favorite chair which was next to Ralph’s chair.
Their lesson was about affixes, which our teacher already discussed 2 days before.
"Who can tell me what are the two types of affixes?", the teacher began to ask my classmates. But no one had answered her.
"Hmmm, could somebody at least tell me what's a prefix?", raising her tone.
I started to get worried for my classmates. Then the teacher began explaining about affixes. She was a little mad that no one had no idea about affixes.
So an idea popped out on my mind, but it wasn’t easy. So, I waited and waited for the right time. When it was recess, our teacher went outside and I went to the front area near the blackboard. I was a little uneasy about the thing that I was planning to do fearing that they wouldn't listen and would tease me instead.
"What is the meaning of COLORFUL?", I started to ask.
Many had answered it, FULL OF COLOR. So I told them that the word FULL was the suffix being attached to the word COLOR. It was called a SUFFIX if it is found after the root word and a SUFFIX if it is found before the root word. Then, I began to ask them about words that have prefixes and suffixes. Almost half of them still didn't understand it. When suddenly, our teacher pass by and saw me standing in the front, teaching my classmates about the lesson they had discussed. She was amazed and told me to continue teaching my classmates. I was happy with her reaction and continued.
I also teach them about connotation and denotation which will be discussed by our teacher the next day. I ended my teaching when our Filipino teacher came in.
Then at 10:40 AM, I said my goodbyes to my classmates and went to my brother's classroom to fetch him, and went home.
The next day, I found out that the teacher was teaching about denotation and connotation. After that, the teacher gave a test and many passed. It was recess time when Kriztuff (one of my classmates) whispered to me saying "Thanks Kim".
Comment which part of the story did you like. Mine was the part when I was teaching them.
Bye-bye for now, see you in the next post.
