Here in the Philippines, we have a lot of ways to eat our food. One of which is through a ”boodle fight” where we eat using our hands. Instead of using plates, we also use banana leaf instead.
One afternoon, we decided to do a ”boodle fight” with our neighbors and it was so much fun.
When doing a noodle fight, you have to make sure that the banana leaf you will be using is clean. Also, all the eaters must make sure to wash their hands first and sanitize because we will be eating using our hands.
Once you pick a clean banana leaf, spread the rice allover fairly for everyone to get their fair share of food. Then, add the viand at the side.
We had rice, grilled milk fish and fried tilapia and ceviche tilapia which tasted so good. We offered our prayers after we washed our hands then we all ate. Everyone in the photo joined the boodle fight.
I am not sure if boodle fight is also done in other countries but here in the Philippines, we often do it especially when eating grilled foods, eating with a large number of people, or simply to save soap from washing the dishes.
Everyone ate using their hands as it is how a boodle fight is supposed to be done. No one used utensils. It made our meal more fun and delicious.
The boy in yellow shirt is my son and these other children are our neighbors. We have such a fun bond that boodle fight is often what we do whenever we share some food with them.
I enjoy having boodle fights but it is important that we keep in mind to do it sanitarily. Make sure the banana leaves we will use are clean, and make sure to always wash one’s hands thoroughly. These are just some of the basic things to remember when doing a boodle fight.
I love to share my blessings with other people, especially in terms of food. Food is also best eaten with a lot of people.
After the boodle fight, I cooked banana cue which is a favorite Filipino snack which consists of banana and caramelized sugar. It was the perfect dessert.
Banana cue is often a snack which is sold for fifteen pesos per stick and is sold by people roaming around. For me, I prefer to buy uncooked bananas and I prefer to do the cooking by myself.
It was such a fun afternoon filled with so much happiness and good food. We enjoyed sharing it with our neighbors.
Boodle fight is the only fight I will never say no, aye?
To more foods to be shared with friends and neighbors. Ciao!☺︎♡
