"One day I will buy myself a car, a house and lot, and be settled down with the love of my life." Those are just the words I constantly share to my college friends back when we were waiting for the bus to pass by as we are going home from school during our college days.
It is clear on my mind that even before during our college days, we have always daydreamed of whatever we want to achieve in life. I have dreamed a lot and my friends are the living proof.
And finally, it finally came to life! I finally have my own car. And we call him "Blu". This is named after it's color , just like our motorcyle which we named "Azul".
NMAX Metallic Blue
Our motorcycle was a great help for us especially during the time when we were still living in Cebu City and as my partner worked as a Maxim driver. He used this motorcycle in Cebu City as he safely transported his passengers.
In Cebu City, having a motorcycle is really something useful for it can help you arrive into your destination faster because you can conquer the traffic faster than cars, and also you can use your motorcycle as a moto taxi such as : Maxim, Angkas, Move It and Joy Ride, which are some of the most famous mototaxis in Cebu City, Philippines.
Mototaxi drivers have a big income. I remember when my partner worked for Maxim, he can earn β±1,000-β±2,000 per day especially when it is the rush hour or days when there are special occasions. But of course, the downside is that the road is dangerous and accidents may happen unpredictably.
Now that we have relocated in the province, we still use it when he drops me off to the school where I am currently teaching, in Tuburan National High School.
It is still surreal that I am now able to buy a car for myself and for my loved ones. It may not be the most high end and most expensive one but as for me, I am already so happy I was able to buy myself one.
WELCOME TO THE FAMILY, BLU!π
We brought our new car to the church nearest to were we live now which is in San Antonio De Padua Parish Church, Tuburan, Cebu.
Here in the Philippines, it has been a tradition for us Roman Catholics to bring our newly-bought vehicles to the church to have it blessed by the parish priest for blessings and safe travels.
As for the payment, it will depend on you as to how much you will be giving to the priest, any amount will do as long as it is heartily given.
The parish priest is an acquaintance since he is the one who presides the mass every first Friday of the month in the school where I am currently teaching now, Tuburan National High School.
We prepared candles and the parish priest told us to lit it when he started the blessing, said some prayers and poured holy water into the vehicle.
We opened all the doors of the vehicle and he blessed all parts of it. It was indeed such a blessed and sacred gesture. We appreciate it so much.
I can't help but cry happy tears because this just used to be a dream, but here I am, making it into a reality. It may be a small win for other people, but it is an achievement for me. At 27, I get to buy my own car.
Some of our friends joined us since I told them that we will have our car blessed, they wanted to witness it also so they came and attended the blessing. We also had a little celebration after.
I remember the days when all we had was our motorcycle, whether it is sunny or whether it is raining, we'd still continue in your travel and would not stop because I always thought it was a waste of time.
And now finally, even if we travel during the rain or some storm, finally, we will never get wet again. We can now travel regardless of the rainy weather.
I also remember when we travel all the way home from Cebu with our motorcycle and I always sleep and I almost fell. But now, I can freely sleep wherever we want to travel. We have so much storage and compartments also and we can bring as much things we want rather than our small u box in our motorcycle.
But regardless if we only had a motorcycle back then, we traveled as a complete family. But now, our dog can conveniently go with us.
These are just one of the many small wins that deserves to be celebrated and one that I am very thankful for.
I am happy with what I have and I am more than contented. I don't want the grandest and most luxurious ones, as long as it serves it's purpose, I am more than happy with that.
The parish priest also blessed the driver, and all of us in the family. It is a great way to strengthen our faith and ask for the guidance of our Almighty Father for extra security and protection.
In frame: Azul our motorcyle, Blu our new car, my little family Tuburan's parish priest, and our dog Uno.
Uno is finally happy he can come with us wherever we will go. He can sleep and relax at the back with my son Jacob.
Nothing compares to the joy of being able to travel completely as a family and knowing you don't have to worry when the rain pours.
I am so thankful I get to purchase it at 27. I am looking for greater things as I get older. As for now, I am more than happy with our Blu.
My dream car is a Ford Raptor but since I cannot afford it as of the moment, I will make most of my time and enjoy our Suzuki Mini Van.
The brand does not matter as long as it is in good running condition and it serves it purpose. It takes us to places we want to go removing our fear of getting wet whenever there will be an unexpected rain. For that, I am beyond grateful and blessed.
To more exciting travels and adventures that lie ahead! Ciao!π«Άπ»
