Amidst the earthquake in Northern Cebu, I make sure to keep my mental health sane. By doing so,I make sure to divert myself with activities that makes me forget all the stress and calamities.
After staying for one week in our hometown in Caduawan, Tabogon, Cebu, we finally decided to go back here in Tuburan where we are renting close to my workplace, Tuburan National High School.
Every now and then aftershocks can still be felt at our hometown in Caduawan, Tabogon, Northern Cebu which is close to the earthquake's epicenter in Bogo City, Northern Cebu.
It is undeniable that it really brought a trauma that will forever leave a mark in our hearts and minds. That 6.9 magnitude earthquake really felt like the end of the world.
But it is not. Life goes on whether we like it or not. Life must go on. To destress and lessen my anxiety, we decided to go on a short staycation with my little family.
We decided to have a one day and one night stay at JVR ISLAND SKYVIEW RESORT Balamban, Cebu just across BUWAKAN NI ALEJANDRA BALAMBAN.
JVR Island Skyview Resort has a lot of amenities. They have rooms available for rent, rooms of different sizes and on the tarpaulin are the corresponding prices. They also have a lot of picture-worthy spots such as their famous hanging bridge, giant badjang, heart-shaped frames, sky deck, painted walls and they also have a pool.
We chose to stay at their standard room and just added one extra person because the standard room is just good for two people which is me and my partner and our son as our additional person.
JVR Island Skyview Resort - Standard Room
October 8,2025
₱1,100 per night and additional ₱350.00 for an additional person
This is our room and there was no airconditioning system because there is really no need because Balamban in Cebu is a place which feels like Baguio in Luzon. The place is foggy and cold.
JVR Island Skyview Resort also provided some free toiletries.
I remember when I was still working as a callcenter agent, everytime I get stressed at work, we always go here in Balamban or Busay to unwind. You can see the 360 view of Cebu. Or simply just enjoy reconnecting with nature.
After we settled in the room, we walked around and took photos of their famous spots inside the resort.
JVR Island Skyview Resort Colorful Hanging Bridge
This is one of my most favorite spots in the resort and I took a lot of photos and videos but here are some snippets.
This is another spot inside JVR Island Skyview Resort— Balamban, Cebu, Philippines this heart-shaped platform.
This spot is a perfect spot to strike some poses with your loved ones. We really enjoyed taking a lot of photos here and it really felt like Valentine's Day.
JVR Island Skyview Resort Sky View Deck
Another spot I love most here at JVR Island Skyview Resort is this sky view deck which will let you appreciate nature even more.
In Cebuano language we say, "SINGKO NALANG ANG PLITI PADONG LANGIT DIRI." which means this view really feels like heaven is just so near. It feels like heaven is so easy to reach.
JVR ISLAND SKYVIEW RESORT MURALS
The resort also has these corner where you can strike poses but I only chose this one which has butterfly wings because the other ones are as angels, and bats which I do not like. I just chose to be this oversized butterfly.
Take note: JVR ISLAND SKYVIEW RESORT DOES NOT HAVE AN IN HOUSE RESTAURANT. You can bring your own food there is no corkage fee, but if you are staying in a standard room like the room we stayed, there is no kitchen. If you really want to cook you can bring your portable butane and kitchen utensils, or simply just buy food outside.
The nearest restaurant is the restaurant inside BUWAKAN NI ALEJANDRA. But take note, even though you will go here just to eat, you still have to pay for the entrance fee which is ₱100 per head for adults and ₱50 per head for children.
We ate at Buwakan Ni Alejandra's Reataurant which I will be sharing with you on a separate blog.
The roads are also very steep. I do not recommend this resort to senior citizens because there are a lot of walking to do here. Look at this road.
Stairs Everywhere
If you have a difficulty in walking or you have arthritis, this resort is not for you. As not such a fan of walking, I was not so happy about it but I just think of happy thoughts being able to finally have an exercise and I just enjoyed it instead.
JVR ISLAND SKYVIEW RESORT POOL AREA
We really had such a good sleep but I was awakened by the cold feeling. At around 6:00 am, I went out to pray the rosary and meditate. Here is the view of the surroundings at around 6:00 am.
JVR ISLAND SKYVIEW RESORT AT OCTOBER 9,2025 6:00 AM
The view is really breath-taking. I felt better when I had a hot choco to ease the cold.
Sitting at their sky view deck, I prayed the rosary and meditated. I had so many realizations and I talked to God in the best way possible.
The recent 6.9 magnitude earthquake opened my eyes to so many reality in this world.
First of all, WITH JUST ONE BLINK OF AN EYE, EVERYTHING CAN POSSIBLY BE LOST. Years of hardwork, building homes, establishments, it can all be gone in just a blink of an eye.
Second, a lot of casualties happened in Northern Cebu especially those whose houses has been fallen by gigantic rocks, they are sleeping and they did not know that sleep would never let them wake up forever. Life is really borrowed and when it is time to return it, we have to return it with open arms and open hearts.
Third, the eathquake helped people realize that material things are just temporary things. What we need most is family, loved ones, and people that matter to us the most.
The earthquake is an eye-opener and this short staycation at JVR ISLAND SKYVIEW RESORT in Balamban, Cebu, Philippines, made me somewhat regain my sanity and it made my mental health feel better. I finally got to relax and enjoy for a shortwhile.
After I prayed the rosary and meditated, I head back to the room and saw these two dogs who approached my son. They are asking for food.
I really stan establishments that are pet friendly. It also makes me feel better to be surrounded by dogs.
This earthquake will pass soon. As of the moment, we have to find ways to somewhat divert our attention, because if we focus mainly on fear and anxiety, it will really cost us our mental health.
The best thing I can suggest to everyone experiencing anxiety due to these recent calamities is to PRAY.🙏🏻 If you are a Roman Catholic, pray the rosary, read the Bible. For me, it helps me calm down and makes me feel at ease.

Just a few hours ago, I heard the news about the 7.5 Magnitude Earthquake In Manay, Davao Oriental. This is indeed a terrifying news because the earthquake that hit Bogo City(Northern Cebu) was just 6.9 and had so many casualties. How much more a 7.5 magnitude one. How terrifying!🥶😨😱 Lord, please heal our land!🙏🏻
Lord please help the entire Philippines and the entire world. This too, shall pass. Keep safe my co-Hivers!😊💖 Ciao! ❤️
