The Philippines has always been at the receiving end of many natural calamities and extreme weather disturbances. We welcome 20 typhoons in a year - and, more! - and some of these are super typhoons with 200 kph strong winds, which could potentially cause serious damage to property and injury to many. With earthquake, volcanic eruptions, and tsunami coming in from time-to-time, we should be more concerned about the impact of climate change and the crisis affecting the world because of greenhouse gasses and related things. But that is not the case. People's priorities lie elsewhere. So, for last week's theme, we have chosen the environment as the focal point of the Hive PH weekly blogging contest to help raise awareness among community members.
For those of you who don't know us, HivePH is a group of Filipino bloggers and crypto-enthusiasts with the mission of helping others become successful here on the #Hive platform. The weekly blogging contest is one of the ways we aim to do this.
The theme for the 3rd week's blogging contest:
Environmental Awareness
And, here are the entries:
1. Let's Make The World A Better Place | Environmental Awareness
Author:

These two are my contestants in Mr. and Ms. Biotiful 2022. They used plastics, newspapers, and dried banana leaves (it is indigenous material, something off to the criteria😁 but laban! (fighting).
2. The Magic of Recycling! | Environmentalist's Initiative
Author:

Overconsumption of plastic bottles is uncontrollable nowadays. As we see it, empty plastic bottles are littering everywhere. It seems that we had nothing to do to stop it. But one thing for sure is that we can do something to minimize it. That is recycling and it should start at home.
3. HivePH Wk3: Environmental Awareness
Author:

Educating people how to help our environment is one of the easiest thing to do but most of the time forgotten by many. It is easy to spread the word but sad to say it is so difficult for some to apply it.
Education about environment al awareness should start fr ourselves. Instill in our minds and apply in our daily lives the 3R'S, REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE.
If we used to do it then it is also easy to educate our family members especially our children. I teached my son to be responsible in his waste and know how to segregate it. I always teach him to put his waste in a garbage can where it belongs. He is also reminded to put it in his pocket or in his bag if he can't find garbage can nearby.
These wonderful entries shows us what we can do as individuals and as a community to help this advocacy in our own capacity. The environment needs us now more than ever. Understandably, not many people see this as a priority in their everyday lives. Hopefully, more of us can bring this important issue in our daily encounters and activities. Awareness is the key in this regard.
And, the winner for this edition of the Hive PH Weekly Blogging Contest is: and her noteworthy entry.
