It all started with a 6.9 earthquake that hit Bogo, Cebu last Sept 30, 2025 then followed by hundreds of aftershocks.
It was a lot for most of us here in Cebu, especially the victims of this calamity. Thankfully, my family and I were all safe from the devastation, although my grandparents' house is now in shambles. This house I am staying in is made of wood and was unharmed during the earthquake but I still had to moved in with my parents in the city for a month for my own safety.
It's been more than a month now, too many aftershocks and even two typhoons have already passed us here. It took a toll on me thus I wasn't able to provide you with this transparency report sooner. But here I am now.
As some of you know, I initiated a donation drive for the victims of the 6.9 earthquake last oct 1, 2025. You can read the post here.
Organizing, buying and distributing the goods was not an easy feat. It was all in a rush. I couldn't wait for the post payouts since time was of the essence, so I purchased all goods using my brother's credit card with faith that somehow the Hive community would be able to help me raise funds which later on I used to pay off the expenses. SUMMARY
I am truly grateful to each and everyone of you who helped me raised PHP 46,532.33 or approximately US $791.60 for this donation drive. Though I was only able to generate 15 bags of goods, it already contained essential needs like lights, tents, tarps, and groceries for our fellow Hivers which were really useful especially after the hundreds of aftershocks that followed. Most of these hivers resorted to sleeping outside their homes for days or weeks so please know your donations, big or small, have impacted their lives in many ways than you can imagine.
