Christmas day are almost here, and some of us are busy doing some preparations to celebrate that day. Will actually even in just a simple effort and you celebrate it together with your love ones are nothing more but special. Parol or lantern is a symbol of Christmas specially if we saw some Christmas trees, we think that it's already December and the day that were waiting are waiving.
Our school help a parol contest for all department and they give us 4 days to make it. At first our department president announced to our gc that we need the help of everyone to make a parol for the contest, and they also added that it's voluntarily. Some 4th year BEED told that they can't cooperate due to they have some thesis to finish.
The materials we use are not that hard to find, cause we use some recyclable materials like water battle, bamboo, candy wrapper and ect. The only materials that we need to buy are stick glue, to paste the materials.
As expected, some of the BEED students didn't come to help. They also have their reasons why they can't help. At first we didn't look after the price we will get if we can win but we look back the pride of our department. We don't want that our department is the only one don't have a parol. So even though were not that so many to do it but we need to try our best just to have ours.
It's takes 3 days before it's done, and this day are already on the 3rd day of making our parol. As usual, we do our assigned part to do. The funniest one is, they plan that we need to be early this day due to the deadline are in, they plan that exactly 9:00 am we can start to continue our parol making, but we are Filipino. We have that Filipino time, instead of arriving at 9:00 am some of us arrived at 11:00 am.
Were almost there, here's the parol we've make but it didn't finish yet. We didn't put yet it's tail and also the lights on it to make it more creative. Doing this kind of things also came with different opinions and suggestions.
And here's the final look. The dean announced that we need to put it at the gym together with thae others, a little bit nervous cause we think that what if our parole was not that good, but atleast we made some to represent our department. The opening of lights will be held to our campus gym at 5:00-7:00 pm. I've been also seeing the works of every department and all I can say that their also so competitive. Line they also want to make a pride for their department. Can't blame cause it's a competition and were on different department.
And the night came, at first I thought I can't watch the opening lights due to my brother left and he brought our motorcycle. But luckily some of my classmates chatted me if ever no one can get me he will be voluntarily get me. And I told him about my situation and he get me. We've been waiting for the others to arrived since were so early at its jusy 5:30 pm. Time goes by and while waiting, some of the BEED students arrived at the venue and we decided also to get along with them.
And here's the Christmas tree that BTLED had made. Look how pretty and perfect it, at first glance I can say that they will be the winner.
Here's also our parol, the BEED parol. Though it's not that so much bigger like the BTLED but atleast we make it. And the program started, a lot of singing, introducing each parole. And the best time I've been waiting arrived, the announcing of the winner. Each of us are praying, hopefully thatv our Parole win and it didn't disappoint us, we win. They give us the price and the certificate.
The efforts and time are priceless. Even though we have some doubts that maybe we can't win on this competition but expectation vs reality hits different. Those mix suggestions, opinions that didn't lead to misunderstanding but instead it leads to unity and cooperation. Our BEED advisers are also proud for us and they are so very happy also cause even we didn't have enough time due to our exam but we still give our best to participate the program.
