Hello, my dear Hivers! It’s me again, , your college blogger from Cebu.
The year 2025 has finally come to an end, and starting today, another new year is here for us to face. January 1, 2026 marks a new chapter in our lives. We have gone through many challenges, but here we are—still standing strong and continuing to rise.
Happy New Year, everyone! This year, we were able to have a small but meaningful gathering. Even though we didn’t prepare many dishes, our home was filled with love for one another.
This was our simple New Year’s feast. We had spaghetti cooked by my father, biko made by my grandfather, humba prepared by my mother, shrimp cooked by my father as well, and an abundant New Year’s rice with money and fruits. It is a Filipino culture to prepare food beautifully for the New Year as we welcome another year—now, the year 2026. I hope that this year will bring more blessings. My only wish is for everyone to be healthy and strong.
We also bonded with my siblings and nieces/nephews because we made salad together. Since our Del Monte salad was small, I exchanged gulaman with my younger sibling so our salad would have different colors. We don’t usually make salads every year, and this is only our second time making salad for New Year. Most of the time, we don’t prepare salad because we didn’t have a refrigerator before. But now that my grandparents have one, we were able to make salad since it’s also my father’s favorite.
While we were preparing, everyone cooperated—some were making the jelly or gulaman, some were boiling the macaroni, and others were arranging what needed to be arranged. We had so much fun that we forgot to take pictures for memories. I was still able to take some photos, but only a few.
During every occasion—whether it’s a birthday, fiesta, Christmas, or New Year—picture-taking is never missing. I was so happy taking pictures of my mom and dad. They were truly happy welcoming the New Year.
With this new beginning, I hope everyone will always give their best and continue doing well.
That’s all, guys. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Take care always. May 2026 give us the strength to face whatever challenges may come.
Love you guys 🫶🫶🫶
