Since I didn’t have class, I got bored staying at my auntie’s house. Out of boredom and curiosity, I decided to make tapioca juice. At first, it was just an idea in my head, but since the grocery store is not far from our house, I went out and bought the ingredients.
These are the ingredients I bought from the grocery store: 4 mangoes, 2 Jersey sweetened condensed creamers, 2 Nestlé all-purpose creams, 1 brown sugar, 2 tapioca pearl (landang, and 1 yellow gulaman powder. Some ingredients were not available in the first grocery store, so I had to go to another one to complete everything. I originally planned to sell it to my neighbors, but my auntie said it’s better to keep it at home for now and just sell it next time.
Ingredients:
4 mangoes
2 Jersey sweetened condensed creamers
2 Nestlé all-purpose creams
1 brown sugar
2 tapioca pearl (landang)
1 yellow gulaman powder
Steps:
The first thing I made was the gulaman. I boiled the gulaman powder until it became jelly. After boiling, I transferred it to the rice cooker and let it cool.
Next, I sliced the ripe mangoes into small pieces. They looked so cute and yummy. I even tasted one slice, and it was very sweet—perfect for my tapioca.
After boiling the jelly( gulaman), the next thing I did was boil the landang until it became smooth. It took about 30 minutes to boil the tapioca pearls (landang) so that it wouldn’t be hard when eaten. After 30 minutes, it was smooth and ready to be mixed it with the mangoes.
After that, I took the Nestlé all-purpose cream from the refrigerator and mixed it with the mango and landang. If you’re wondering why it was placed in the fridge, I just followed my auntie’s advice that it’s better to chill it first before mixing it with the other ingredients—and she was right.
This is how it looked after mixing the ingredients. It already looked yummy and delicious.
Then, I added the condensed milk to make it sweeter since the all-purpose cream has no taste. After adding the condensed milk, the mixture increased in volume, and I started craving it even more while mixing. I mixed everything for about five minutes.
After that, the gulaman had already set into jelly. My auntie sliced it for me since she was my assistant while I was making the tapioca. I was a bit shocked because the slices were too big, so I wasn’t sure anymore if it was still tapioca or just gulaman jelly.
I added the sliced gulaman jelly to the mixture, but it became too much, so I transferred it to another bowl because it was already overflowing.
And this is the finished product—so yummy, sweet, and delicious.
