Hi, what’s up my dear Hivers! I’m back…it’s me again, , your college blogger from the Philippines. 💫
I just want to share what we did on November 1, 2025, which is Kalag-Kalag Day (All Souls’ Day). My father was fixing my grandfather’s house. He ordered materials for the repair…he even had cement and sand delivered so he could start mixing right away. Instead of hiring a laborer, my father volunteered to do the work himself since he already knows how to build.
I assisted my father while my younger siblings volunteered to carry stones so they could also help rebuild our grandfather’s house, which was damaged by the earthquake. That’s how our day went…I helped with mixing the cement together with my cousin.
At first, it was really hard, but after some time, we got used to it and became faster at mixing. My father started with the flooring first before cementing the base to make the work easier. I really enjoyed assisting my father, even though my arms hurt from mixing the cement and sand…but we managed, and I’m happy that we were able to help him.
Since we weren’t able to finish cementing everything that day, my father continued the next day, and I was still his assistant. He did the flooring while I mixed the cement and sand.
And we didn’t need to hire anyone to fetch water for mixing the cement because my grandfather discovered a well nearby. At first, it was just a small spring, but after he dug deeper, it eventually became our very own well just beside our house. The water is so clear and refreshing — it really gives off that calming, natural feeling, like being close to nature itself. 🌿💧
Fast forward to now…it’s almost finished! And it’s really a big help that my grandfather’s house was cemented because during the last strong typhoon, they had to evacuate to our place as many people were affected.
