On January 17, 2026, more than five million devoted believers joined the grand procession in honor of Señor Santo Niño, held on the day dedicated to the Blessed Virgin. I personally took part in this solemn event together with my aunt here in Cebu City”. During the procession, I witnessed firsthand the deep devotion of the people to the Holy Child and to God.
Participants came not only from Cebu but also from various provinces and regions, traveling far distances simply to be part of the procession. This remarkable gathering reflected a shared faith that transcended place and background.
The procession began at the “Basilica Minore del Santo Niño”, passed through Fuente Osmeña, and then returned to the basilica. I walked for nearly three hours, yet none of us felt exhausted. Our strength was renewed by faith, knowing that we were walking in honor of the Holy Child. Despite the long route, countless devotees remained steadfast, as this sacred tradition happens only once a year during the Sinulog celebration in January.
One of the photos was taken near EMALL as the procession passed by. The sight was truly breathtaking—an overwhelming sea of people united in prayer and devotion. Their faces reflected sincerity, reverence, and unwavering faith.
Another photo was captured near Ramos, where a group gathered to dance joyfully to “I Love Cebu,” offering their dance as a form of praise to Señor Santo Niño. The moment beautifully expressed how faith and culture come together in celebration.
There was also a photo of the float of Señor Santo Niño itself, moving peacefully through the crowd. The calm and reverent atmosphere surrounding the image created a powerful contrast to the vast number of devotees following it.
Although we expected rain, none came. We truly felt that Señor Santo Niño watched over us, blessing the procession and protecting His people. It was a humbling and unforgettable experience—one that strengthened my faith and reminded me of the power of devotion shared by millions.
