Nihao, Hivers! It has been so long since my last post in this wonderful community. I kind of miss it, I must admit. Many things have happened, and I was in a bit of a life transition-specifically on the side of work. Now that I'm settling, I guess it is high time to write again and share about this one big life transition of mine.
Last October 2, 2023, I resigned as a public school teacher in the Philippines to participate in Taiwan Foreign English Teacher Program. This is a program launched by the government of Taiwan to bolster the English competence of the public-school students.
It was a bitter-sweet experience when I handed my resignation to Cebu Province Division Human Resource Department. I felt like crying while laughing. It was a feeling beyond my understanding until now.
After completing everything, I packed my things and was ready to take on this one rare opportunity. I felt anxious honestly not knowing what to expect, though I have undergone lots of orientations and pieces of training, I think nobody is prepared to pick his life and bring it somewhere else.
My flight was at 10:00 a.m. on November 11, 2023, so we decided to head to the airport as early as 3:00 a.m. because it was my first international flight. I was nervous actually. It was a smooth ride going to the airport, but my heart started to get heavier and heavier.
We arrived at the airport at 6:00 0'clock,took photos for remembrance. We talked not to cry but we were not able to hold the tears. Oh! how I hate goodbyes!
So much for the drama, I went inside the airport and waited for the check-in counter to open.
After checking in, I went to the immigration counter and then waited for boarding. I felt a bit hungry, so I strolled around to look for food. Gladly, I found one and grabbed a chicken burger.
I was in deep thought when I heard an announcement that it was time to board the plane. I immediately went back to reality and got everything ready- lined up and went inside the plane.
We took off on schedule which made me very happy by the way.
I chose to be seated by the window to see the amazing view outside. Everything was comfortable enough, but I couldn't help the tears falling from my eyes when the airport was slowly out of my sight.
This is where reality kicked in! I was about to go to another place where everything would be new and fresh!
The thought scared me for a while, but I knew by heart and mind that God is with me on this wonderful journey. With this in mind, I felt calm and by that time, the food was served and I all the more enjoyed it.
After eating the sumptuous lunch, I sneaked in a little nap and when I woke up, we'd already arrived in TAIWAN!
It was a smooth 2-hour flight! The school had an event when I arrived, and I was given the warmest welcome ever!
I can't wait to share all my adventures with you in this wonderful place. I hope to see you on my next one! See you around beautiful people! Ciao!
