A few days from now, it’s already December. I still can’t believe how fast the year has gone by! We only put up our Christmas tree last week. It was a bit late this year because of consecutive typhoons and other things that came up. In the Philippines, many people start decorating as early as September. That’s how much we value and look forward to this season.
There’s something about setting up the Christmas tree that makes everyone suddenly realize, “It’s really Christmas season already,” even the little kid at home. The excitement of taking the ornaments out of the box always comes with a bit of nostalgia. After all, they’ve been kept inside for a year. I imagine the ornaments excited to come out, too. But every time I start decorating, I’m also reminded of the gifts I need to prepare for the family… again. I wish I had a lot of money, so it wouldn't be a problem for me, lol.
Last year, we went for a Pink Christmas, and our tree was decorated with pink ornaments. This year, I chose gold, red, and silver. Another reason for the delay was that I ordered some ornaments online, so I had to wait for them to arrive. When they finally did, I unboxed them right away and mixed them with the old ones I still needed.
The ornaments I added this year include golden mesh, glittered flowers, glittered leaves, gold and silver balls, a golden star, and some solar Christmas lights — which really helped us save on electricity. If you want to check them out, I posted some on Facebook, including links where you can buy them.
We have another Christmas tree, which is smaller. I decided to place it in our shop. I reused last year’s pink ornaments for that one. It looks even better with the LED lights on the ceiling.
With the help of my brother, we also installed solar Christmas curtain lights outside the shop and on our outdoor plants to add a bit of charm to our little kingdom.
The house instantly felt warmer, cozier, and more alive. And of course, here she is...our naughty little elf, also excited to see the Christmas decorations at home.
Are gifts ready?
Yes...but they are empty for now, haha. I bought these Christmas wrappers online at a very affordable price. You should check them out!
Christmas is really approaching fast. I remember writing an article back when I was abroad, sharing how sad it felt to celebrate Christmas alone. I wished I could spend the season with my family… and now here I am, finally with them. No more feeling alone or lonely. :)
Thanks for your time.
