Sinulog festival in Cebu happens every 3rd Sunday of January. It's a religious festivity in honor of Senior Sto Nino de Cebu. Although it's a local festival, many foreigners and people from other cities travel to Cebu to join the celebration.
Over the weekend, the streets were covered by sardines of people. And I'm not even exaggerating, people, including myself, can only walk one step at a time due to the unruly crowd. There were even people who fainted. Good thing ambulance cars are already in place and ready for these situations.
During this festival, some people go to Street parties, bars, and open air concerts. My family and I opted to attend the last mass at Basilica Minor del Santo Nino. After the mass follows the mini dance for all celebration with matching fireworks. I must say, the fireworks display was magical.
I prayed to Santo Nino for guidance and prosperity in all aspects of my life. One of the songs in the mass is entitled Bato Balani sa gugma, which means magnet of love.
Street vendors expanded their goods from foods to other items such as clothes, toys, tattoos, balloons, and many more.
After enjoying the festivities, we were all hungry. Most of the establishments around the area are crowded, so we drove somewhere away from the crowd and ate dinner at Jollibee.
Good thing we were able to spot an empty table at the restaurant. I ate my usual order of Jolly spaghetti and burger.
We went home past 11pm already. Despite already late at night, there are still so many people in the streets. Some people stayed awake the whole night and had the time of their lives at parties. I choose to go home and rest.
That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!
Sending some love and light
With love,
Jane
