It was my younger brother's kindergarten graduation day when I first heard of dream jobs. Each of them are task to go up stage, get a piece of rolled out bond paper I assumed to be their diploma, introduce theirselves and state what they want to be when they grow up.
Most of the boys want to become a fireman or a police, while the girls either choose to be a doctor, nurse, or teacher. This might be because of the huge impact these professionals play in the society; these are the people kids admire.
I can't exactly remember what I said during my own graduation, perhaps a doctor or a scientist? -because I love wearing lab gowns.
Fast forward to highschool when reality of life starts to kick in, we forgot about these dreams and just enjoy our teenage years. Did I still want to become a doctor or scientist? Absolutely not anymore. I found out that I hate science and I have a phobia for syringes.
At this age, I realized that the only thing I'm good at is playing with numbers. I enjoyed calculus and solving mathematical problems. So when the time came that I have to choose a course for college, one of my top choice was accountancy. I want to become a CPA just like my mom.
A few years of hard work and I did became an accountant. Is it my dream to become one? Not really.
If possibilities were limitless and no other factor hinders my choice, I would've love to become a fashion designer or anything related to arts; Or maybe become a chef or nutritionist. But regardless of these choices, I believe that we are meant to be where we are. No matter what, we are responsible for the trajectory of our lives.
That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!
Sending some love and light
With love, Jane
