It has been a while since I joined another blog challenge. This time, it is about the Chinese New Year, which will be on the 22nd of January. The Chinese have a big impact on the Philippines' culture and some of these are on cuisines and superstitions.
In our household, we do not really celebrate Chinese New Year. But thanks to our Chinese family friend we got to eat tikoy (rice cake) every Chinese New Year. 😋 I can compare tikoy to our local biko and the mochi of Japan. Fun fact, biko is one of my favorite desserts! Best when it has a lot of latik (solid cococnut curds). To my foreign friends, if you ever visit the Philippines, try the biko!
For the tikoy, we usually we cut them into small rectangular shapes and coat them in egg. I like it better when it is sliced thinly, and fry the egg in toasty brown. I eat it for breakfast or for snacks. The most popular brand in the Philippines is the Eng Bee Tin. I actually visited already their branch in Banawe, Quezon City.
But even if we have Chinese blood, we will not probably celebrate it, because this household does not believe in superstition, lol. I have told this a few times in the Discord server that our family, especially my father is not really a fan of superstitions, luck, zodiacs, and whatnot.
About the art: I drew this yesterday out of boredom. 🤣 I was about to draw an entry for Splinterlands but my mood shifted the moment I opened a new canvas, haha!
The expression is like "sussy" (suspicious). Prolly because I play Among Us a lot lately. 🤣
Took me 5 minutes to finish this. 🤣
I mean, there is nothing wrong with believing in such things as long as you are not hurting anyone. We can peek into our daily zodiac readings, but we cannot entirely rely on those alone. If we really want something, it should come will hard work.
To answer the question, do I believe in luck? No.
I was taught by my parents to not rely on luck. Though we have different perspectives of luck, perhaps if I say, "I am lucky to be your friend." I think that is true. But when we wish for something we want, luck alone is not the key. We cannot wait forever for luck to work its way.
Maybe if I already met my soulmate, that is the time I will say that I truly believe in luck HAHAHA! 🤣 Err, talking about it, I do not know what lies ahead of me in terms of lovelife. We have this inside joke going around on the Discord server about manifesting it on 2023. Oh, it has been 17 days in already and my soulmate has not yet touched the glass. 🤣 (Sorry, out of context already hahaha!).
Err.. sorry, I cannot think of something related to #kuneho (rabbit), but these creatures remind me of because he is very knowledgable of taking care and breeding them. I had a hamster when I was young, but that would not count as a bunny. 🤣
But here is a bunny NFT from my collection! 💖
This is up for grabs! The other bunny was already sold to , hihi! 💖
