HivePH announced that it is time to renew the logo. Of course, my brain cells suddenly are bursting with ideas. So here we go~
See contest here.
My objectives for the logo design
- It should be fun and inviting. So I am thinking of a cartoon-ish logo.
- It should be minimal, and easy to recognize.
- Intact design, not crowdy or loose.
- Fusion of Hive PH and Hive.
- A cute bee. 🐝
Sketch & Concept
This is the first draft of the logo. I incorporated the Philippine flag, the hexagon bee, and the Hive logo. I was thinking of dropping the bee but would like to stick to the current logo with the bee. I just use hexagons to have a uniform shape.
For the colors, I color-picked the flag's color to some random flags on Google. The sun and stars are downloaded from here. I am not a Sun and stars artist, so--- I just looked for downloadable PNG. It is easy to find if you have the right keywords.
The color of the bee is a bit undersaturated. I applied another top layer for the shadow to make it a little 3D-ish.
Lineart (???)
So I started with positioning the hexagons. These would be for the Philippine flag and the bee. To make it symmetrical and the same size, just copy pasted it.
I was thinking of a heart shape, after all Filipinos are lovable, haha! (JK, not all 🤣). I used the tool shape and vector.
The two hexagons are in separate layers so that I can move the other one on the back. For logos, I find it very scattered when it comes to layering because per line should have a separate layer so that you can move them without affecting the other lines or shapes. I used a lot of folders for this art 🤣.
The Philippine flag should be the most visible one because the logo is all about Hive PH. I put the Hive logo just on the lower right because it will balance the red color of the flag. It will be then separated by a bright yellow in the middle.
For the bee, I just want to incorporate two colors-- black and yellow. To make it more like a bee, I added the stinger and antennae. The sun and stars are downloaded PNG from Google. The link is provided above. At the bottom, I added the "Hive PH" and "Est. 2020" the same as the current logo.
Final Logo Design
I added shadows on the bottom for the flag and Hive logo. Just presenation, I colored the background baby blue and added shadow to the logo.
EDIT: I interchanged the blue and red color on the flag~ Thanks to those who noticed it!
This banner was made in Canva. I am thinking of the very festive spirit of the Filipinos. We are always celebrating and putting smiles on our faces. I chose the brown color for the background to represent the color of our skin. The sun and the three stars are from the Philippine flag. The little be for extra cuteness. 🥳
Can you find the Philippine map? 😊
I put the logo on the lower right on a stamp-like paper.
The word "Updates" can be changed depending on what is the banner for.
I am not feeling well today so, I am sure I missed a thing or two. If ever this logo will be chosen, I am willing and happy to change anything.
